So, I've been around these parts for the best part of 16 years, I think... anyway, DS turns 18 in October and has no idea what to do or what he'd like.

He has no friends to speak of so a party would be pretty flat, not including the impact of covid.

Anyway, he's learning to drive and I've been saving up for 2 years to treat him (never been able to afford much tbh!)

So anyway. My news.... I'm so excited!

I've bought him a car I'm going to get huge balloons and play Happy Birthday on the stereo and hoot the horn and make a complete ruckus as I drive it down the road on his birthday!

I cannot wait!

I remember my dad buying me my first car, it was the best present ever.

But I was sad about the other part of your post.....Why does he have no friends? That seems strange for an 18 year old boy.

Before anyone thinks I'm being flash, it's an 06 plate and I lucked out with the mileage and its only 20 quid tax! He ain't getting a new car until he buys it himself

it's a teeny weeny Peugeot 107 - no room to haul mates

oh sorry, only just seen the bit about mates. He has ASD and struggles to make friends - he has a few people he hangs out with from college, but only one long-term real friend

my parents have a service road behind their home that is parking for the next street - it'll blend in and he won't even know.

Also, if he does ask, a neighbour sells cars so I bare faced lie
