Slow cooker meals I can serve at different times?

I don't like eating with the kids every night as they are always hungry at 5ish which is too early for me and DH. Pre-covid, kids were in childcare for their evening meals so we had our meals alone at a time to suit us.
When school returns we have decided to save money buy collecting them from childcare early, which means we need to feed them once home.
The ideal would be to chuck something in the slowcooker at 8 am and serve it to the kids at 5. Turn it off and DH can have ours when we are ready.
Idea's so far are curry, chilli, stews. Any other ideas?

I use mine to cook a whole chicken. I peel potatoes in the morning - and in the wvening I steam the potatoes and some vegetables to have with the chicken.

I also make baked potatoes in the slow cooker - and keep them as handy snacks.

I make a big bolognese too that lasts for two days.

I find that the slow cooker packet mixes work well for reliably getting a speedily put together and decent result for dishes like chicken in wine, sausage casserole, chilli etc.Pulled pork works well too. If the dish doesn’t include potatoes, we usually serve with rice or pasta for a quick dinner.

I often make a ratatouille-type sauce in the slow cooker with onions, tomatoes, courgettes, peppers fridge contents etc.

About an hour before the kids come home I put some cod in a plastic freezer bag in the top of the slow cooker - it's then cooked and ready for their dinner. Then I leave the slow cooker on and do the same a bit later for DH and me. New potatoes or mash are good with it.
