Thread for those who have lost loved ones down the current conspiracy rabbit hole

I've seen a few posts about this over the last few weeks, and thought it might be worthwhile to make a thread.

Covid seems to have caused a rise in previously rational people believing that everyone in Holywood is a cannibal satan worshipper, especially Tom Hanks, that adrenochrome is the face cream of choice for the elite, and that covid is a ruse to distract us all from the intergalactic space opera we're apparently living in,prior to the start of the new world order.

In my case it's a relative, and the last person in the world I'd expect to fall for this shit. It seemed to happen overnight. Now they are almost aggressive in their attempts to make me and others "wake up". I just hope it all calms down after covid. Anyone else?

My SIL's husband has gone right over the deep end. He had been sending my husband all sorts of nonsense, but he stopped several weeks ago due to my husband telling him very clearly to fuck off with it all. Luckily, they live 4+ hours away so we rarely see them.

My DDs father has completely lost it and its causing me no end of worry. The latest is wanting to stop her having any vaccines/covid tests/temperature taken etc

Yes, a relative who has been like this for years, but who has got sucked into the covid conspiracies as well. Other relatives who are closer to them than me are keeping their distance now, & get snippets of what they've said this week from an innocent third party. It's really sad.

I've suggested the rest of us stay neutral. We will (probably) be there for them when they crash & need help.

DH has a FB friend who posts about the new covid conspiracies they believe in at an alarming rate. DH doesn't comment. Friend's OH just posts stuff like, "had a nice walk today."

Not family but an old friend, Covid, 5G, now vaccines. Fortunately they're 300 miles away so I can just mute them on FB but still so sad it's necessary
