What is London like right now?

Looking for those who are regularly in the centre of London/live there. We live a 45 minute drive away and DD keeps saying she wants to go and misses it.
Planning to drive but may get the train which goes straight into Waterloo. Don't want to use any other transport so will be staying there around the London eye. Is it busy/quiet? Are there many tourists? Am I stupid for considering it?

I live in zone 1, its very quiet. Lots of attractions are now bookable, so you can book the NHM, we’re off there later on today.

Its dead, brilliant!

I went to the NHM the other day with DP who wanted to go. It was as boring as ever and like a sauna however it was much less busy than normal. No idea about the London Eye though

we went the other day, train in was 2 or 3 people in each carriage, but not that dissimilar from an old mid week mid morning. We then used the river boat service which was very busy. London itself around borough market, southbank, london eye was pretty busy but probably not as busy as a nornal Almost day wpuld have been. Almost back to normal but not for August was my overriding impression.

Central London is getting busier - when restaurants first reopened central London was very quiet compared to more residential areas in zone 2/3. I imagine with the lack of tourists a lot of museums/galleries will be much quieter than normal. The last few weeks in Soho etc. Have felt much more normal - and the European style outdoor seating in Chinatown and Soho is fab! Public transport is quite quiet and well spaced we’ve noticed (buses, tubes and overground)

80% less footfall - no tourists. It's very, very quiet and low pollution

It's bloody brilliant.

If you do get trains or tubes they are empty outside rush hour. I just got off a train and I was the only one in a carriage.

Thank you everyone! Sounds like a good time to take advantage of it being quieter. Think I will get the train aswell then as I don't like the idea of driving in London. Will tell DD we can go

No tourists, very quiet, oxford street absolutley deserted (never seen anything like it) restaurants and terraces were abandoned on sunday. It was lovely!

Chelsea is lovely. Lots of tables and chairs outside in Duke of York square, people sitting on the grass having picnics, food market etc. Fantastic atmosphere.

I've done a bit (mostly cycling).

Did not like Chelsea and Fulham - very few people socially distancing and very few people wearing masks. The area around South Kensington was dead quiet though and very, very different to how it would normally be (I normally walk to another tube stop during the Summer months due to all the tourists). Shame as I really wanted to visit a couple of places there (Daylesford!). Ended up cycling back out.

Soho felt safer, people seemed to be much more sensible with distancing and with wearing masks.

I've been to a couple of exhibitions and everyone has worn masks even though it wasn't compulsory at that time.

Most of the roads are now single lane so I would think twice about driving in.

Well, it’s mainly hot. I’d wait till the temperatures drop.
