Moving area, admission in to year 6?

If moving area do schools admit pupils into year 6? I seem to remember reading a while back that some schools don't admit children for the last year due to Sats, is that true or does it depend on the school?

Are you asking about state schools? When you move, you just contact the local authority and they must find you a school as your child is of compulsory school age. They will offer you the schools you prefer if spaces are available. If the schools are full, they’ll find a place elsewhere.

Yes state school. OK thanks, I was sure I'd heard somewhere that some schools can choose to not admit children in to year 6.

They can only deny admitting if they are full

My ds started a new school in y6. It wasn't our first choice which was full but this school was great too
