What can I see in the sky?

I'm in London. Looking east, there's what looks like a row of maybe three white lights, very close together so must be one thing, not moving. It's not overhead, it's at maybe a 45 degree angle to the horizon. I googled ISS and it doesn't seem to be that.

The way 2020's been going I wouldn't be surprised if aliens had decided to rock up.

There is an app called sky view. That’s quite good at telling you stuff like this.

DP and I have decided it is moving, but kind of swinging to and fro, not travelling. @Cakestandkitchen I looked for the app but am getting lots of random results.

I realised it could just be a distant helicopter that we can't hear. It just disappeared! Sorry to get all dramatic!

It could be the Perseids (meteor shower visible this time of year)?

I’m in Devon and my husband is excitedly watching some sort of meteors that are passing by this week. Looked like a fleeting stripe in the sky to me but he was very pleased... He has also (allegedly) identified Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn but I said to him ‘you’re talking out of Uranus’.

Perseid showers. Meteors or shooting stars, they are amazing.

In other words part of his 40,000 pieces of space junk.

Won’t be anywhere near dark enough in London yet for that. And they don’t travel across the sky in a line. They’re more like a starburst from the Perseus constellation.
