Not just lightning but continuous, not stopping at all, I'm in the NW. I thought the light was going in the kitchen but can see it from every window.

SW, we had a few minutes of rain this afternoon and nothing more. I’m genuinely jealous of all your storms.

Same, NW here as well. It is stunning and so, so bright. Just nearly blinded myself videoing it (I'm a bit sad like that! Blush)

Im in NW too and spent a good while watching out my window awestruck like a child. I love lighting! Any one else think the big flashes always happen just as you look away after having had your eyes glued to the window for 10 minutes!!

toomanyplants · 11/08/2020 00:39

Same here, I'm in the north west and the lightening is insane. My house backs on to a forest and it's so eerie, no wind or rain at all.
I've been stood watching for over an hour mesmerised... I'm up in 5 hours!

crosshatching · 11/08/2020 00:43

Could you all get together and try and blow it south please - it's still 28c in my bedroom Shock

Dorobie · 11/08/2020 00:46

Shame we can’t post videos

Manchester. Lightning started just now and a couple of loud rolls of thunder .No rain (as yet?).

eatsleepread · 11/08/2020 01:10

I love a good storm!
Nothing where I am as yet, but it is forecast I think.

Z8Z8 · 11/08/2020 01:21

Pooh send it to me! I love a cracking storm and the more lightning and (very loud) thunder the better... And I can't sleep!

JessePinkmanYo · 11/08/2020 22:57

@Shizzlestix you're welcome! I too discovered it after someone posted a link on here a couple of years ago! Smile

I used to live in SE Queensland, Oz. It wasn't that uncommon to witness huge lightning storms all pretty much contained within a huge cloud, with no thunder, certainly no hint of rain; often perfectly tranquil and still, as a distant cloud was ablaze with silent flashes.

An aside, next morning you'd read of somewhere to the south, the direction of that cloud's transit, copping a destructive storm!
