What are your experiences of ordering from Shein?

I've seen some bits and bobs of stationery & clothing I quite fancy on there but have never used them before.

Other than to read reviews, and check clothes sizing charts, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Tia :)

they are tiny

ThousandsAreSailing · 10/08/2020 14:49

Terrible. It was nothing like the picture and was going to cost over £20 to return to China. Poor quality
I claimed through PayPal

EstherLittle · 10/08/2020 14:50

Sis in law has bought from them. They come up very small and are impossible to return. The quality was awful too. Sweaty polyester.

Yep they do come up small and take a long time to come even pre Covid. Quality is not great but for growing children and teens that will get one year out and then charity shop it’s not too bad.

Quality in terms of other fast fashion providers it’s not as good as primark but better than say want that trend. About on par with PLT

Springersrock · 10/08/2020 14:52

My daughter has ordered clothes from there.

Bit hit and miss but she loves it for summer clothes

Sizing is all over the place. Some things are tiny, others are massive. She checks the measurements rather than the sizing

Quality hasn’t been too bad. She wears one particular top all the time and it’s fine

Deliqueen · 10/08/2020 15:01

We did a big order for my 2 daughters about 2 months ago. All good. We were very careful about checking sizes and material of each item. The order took about a month to arrive. We ordered about 30 items and sent about 10 back. Was a UK return address and refund was slow but all sorted in a couple of weeks. We would order again. I think the key is to look at the detail very carefully. I must say the clothes my daughters kept have been really good👍

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/08/2020 15:05

Terrible quality, the trousers I bought tore at the crotch after one wear. Never again.

Lindy2 · 10/08/2020 15:05

I got some very nice summer clothes from them. I ordered a size bigger than I am and didn't go for anything very fitted and I was pleased with what I got.

I'd say it's Primark quality rather than anything fancy but I'm happy with it all. It all fits and only took about a week to be delivered. I'd happily order again.

Moreisnnogedag · 10/08/2020 15:07

I found the sizing fine but the quality was really awful. I returned everything

summersolstice43 · 10/08/2020 15:08

I've never had a problem and have ordered several times from them. All the items of clothing have the measurements on the sizes so check these before ordering. I've bought my DD a lot of clothing from there and she loves them. Don't buy electricals though, they have different plugs on them and don't work on UK sockets as I found out.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/08/2020 16:31

My 13yo ordered from them for the first time a few months ago. It took agggess... meaning she didn't have clothes she'd specifically ordered for going on holidays (or 'staying at home in another part of Ireland😀)

But I'm surprised at other comments. Found fit great, quality fine & she kept everything she ordered. One skirt didn't look great in her (with her long legs 😐) so her much shorter mother was delighted to take that!

Babymamaroon · 10/08/2020 16:39

I've bought a couple of dresses and tops, which have actually been OK. I was quite surprised!

I would say though that I'd never buy anything too expensive as you have to be prepared for it to be unwearable...

AlcoholicHippo · 10/08/2020 16:50

I have bought from them twice and had a really positive experience both times! Both orders came in less than 10 days and I found everything true to size. I am a size 16 and ordered from their plus size range and everything fit fine. I am surprised to see so many people not having had a good experience.

My daughter orders from them a lot too. She's a small size 10 and usually sizes up to a 12 as she likes crop tops but doesn't like them too clingy.

Needingsupportplease · 10/08/2020 16:52

Check reviews and read sizing guide (have to pick correct size according to individual items) I've just had some stuff come and its all lovely and actually decent quality which surprised me!

lucysmam · 10/08/2020 18:50

Thank you, this is all really useful.

I'll measure myself before I sit down for a proper look later on.

I'm not after anything fancy, just a few smartish tops maybe. & some of the stationery appealed to me.

DD15 has bought a lot - really important to look at the sizing for each item Individually as they vary. She has been very pleased with them all - I was very cynical so she’s delighted! Not so good with Rosewe or some of the others but Shein has been great so far.

AlwaysLatte · 10/08/2020 19:02

Ok if you like plastic clothes that take until next season to arrive....

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 10/08/2020 19:03

Absolute shite!

OddSox123 · 10/08/2020 19:36

Chinese crap! Support the UK highstreet or if you cant get out, at least support the uk stores and staff in a warehouse and buy online.

MoreHairyThanScary · 10/08/2020 21:04

Awful ordered 6 pairs of pj's all shiny horrible sweaty fabric, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole again.

toomanyplants · 10/08/2020 21:08

I've had a few tshirts and play suits from there. I wear a size 16uk and order the XL.
Quality no worse than new look/primark, really cheap and took about 10 days to arrive.

DianaT1969 · 10/08/2020 21:47

Don't do it.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 10/08/2020 21:52

I'm shocked at what most people are saying. I've ordered loads for dd on there, sizes are fine (I measured her 1st) and love the clothes. They arent any worse quality than primark and the like. Good value for money, takes a while to arrive but they often have free shipping and 20% off vouchers. I've never had any problems.

HouchinBawbags · 10/08/2020 22:01

Hit and a miss but DD loves it. The pyjama sets are great. You do have to be careful with the sizing but the size guides do help with actual measurements.
Clothes are Primark quality but looking at the prices that's understandable plus you have the home delivery.

lucysmam · 10/08/2020 22:07

It does seem quite hit and miss - I'll try it for a few bits and see how I get on.
