DCs playing in the garden.

How old is too old to play in the nude?

My 11 and 9 year olds are happy naked in our pool. My 13 year old is neither happy with his own nakedness OR that of his siblings so remains covered. I’m 42 and I also say No to naked in the paddling pool.

My garden is overlooked so I wouldn't let my sons out naked. They aren’t old enough to consider their own privacy so as their mother it’s my job to do it.

KitKatastrophe · 09/08/2020 20:51

My 3 year old had a sunsuit on but mainly because I didnt want to have to suncream up her whole body. I wouldn't have an issue with anyone of any age being naked in their own back garden. I put the washing out in just my bra and pants this evening as it was so hot.

QuestionableMouse · 09/08/2020 20:51

I spent the vast majority of my childhood summers naked and in a paddling pool. As were most of the other kids in my street. Never did us any harm.

My 10 year old has been naked in the garden for months he has severe autism and learning disabilities and keeps stripping off ,he no where near puberty though and we have very high fencing ,now ,he's developed a lovely tan 😂

CherryPavlova · 09/08/2020 20:53

Our 21 year old isn’t keen. Seriously, what are we doing to our children to make them feel the need to cover up prepubescent bodies from babyhood? In real life there are often 6/7 year olds naked on the beach. Why does it even raise a question?

SquirrelFan · 09/08/2020 20:54

Um, I don't know, but a photo of a young naked woman with red hair has just popped up as an advertisement on this thread! I don't think it's a perfume ad (sometimes it's hard to tell)! How do I report?

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 09/08/2020 21:05

As others have said, I let my children decide for themselves. They all reach an age when they feel more comfortable covered up, and are usually quite good at letting you know!

SleepingStandingUp · 09/08/2020 21:06

I'd say puberty really

Donelurking · 09/08/2020 21:29

Bizarre statement.

Cotswoldmama · 09/08/2020 21:30

When they decide they want to wear something?

dinosaurtin · 09/08/2020 21:36

I find this thread a bit weird, what is wrong with being naked. Our garden is overlooked, my kids are naked if they want, in swimmers if they want. We were at a nudist beach recently, they didn’t notice at all. They are 4 & 6yrs old.

randomsabreuse · 09/08/2020 21:38

I have a red head who seems to go blotchy with most sun creams, so sun protective suit thingy is not optional if it's warm enough to be naked outside!

Nicknacky · 09/08/2020 21:39

I’m slightly uncomfortable that posters are being encouraged to talk about their children being naked.

Findahouse21
