Just wondering as I suppose i shouldn't really complain but it's the heat at night, I can't stand.
Have fan on right now, windows wide, water spray and just a sheet for a cover...and it's just about bearable....

Think the UK might have to rethink house design as it seems to be we are getting hotter summers due to climate change. Shutters, higher ceilings, ceiling fans, etc...

Mommabear20 · 07/08/2020 23:03

Have a husband and 6 week old DC that are basically made of fire and are melting away and I'm over here like Olaf! 😂

ILiveInSalemsLot · 07/08/2020 23:04

I’m about to have a cold shower to try to cool myself down and try to get some sleep. Windows open, fan on but it’s still too warm.

labyrinthloafer · 07/08/2020 23:05

I find if i.keep very still it is ok. Luckily I am quite lazy at times Grin

Bargebill19 · 07/08/2020 23:07

A wet scarf draped across my neck is fab.
A frozen hot water bottle or chilled socks for bed have been suggested but I’ve not yet tried these.

weegiemum · 07/08/2020 23:07

I'm in Scotland. Windows open and it's pouring rain. That's how I'm coping!

ragged · 07/08/2020 23:08

I wear wet clothes a lot at home. Fans keep me awake.
few hours on beach this afternoon & several 10-20 minute swims.

Would get tent out & sleep outside if required.

elfycat · 07/08/2020 23:08

The hot flushes that were subsiding have come back in full force. Can't hug the kids without boiling over. Have no plans until it goes away.

Impatientwino · 07/08/2020 23:08

Three years ago I was heavily pregnant when it was this warm and I remember taking 5 showers overnight just to cool down! Totally hideous! I shudder when I think of how hot I was!

Two years ago I remember refusing to sleep upstairs as it was so bloody hot - could feel it like a wall of heat as you climbed the stairs so after an hour of tossing and turning I gave up and slept badly downstairs as it was at least a few degrees cooler!

I like keeping a wet flannel nearby and wiping my feet over - it really helps keep me cool. Must be pulse points...

Springersrock · 07/08/2020 23:09

I love it

I’m always freezing. Today I took my jumper off 😂

Perihelion · 07/08/2020 23:10

Ginfordinner · 07/08/2020 23:11

I'm in Northumberland. It has been pleasantly warm today, and it is cool enough to sleep in tonight - 11 degrees Tomorrow's temperature is 18 degrees Sad

MrsGatsby99 · 07/08/2020 23:13

Might be moving next summer...Smile

Quite cold here on the west coast of Scotland. It rarely gets too hot here and never at night.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/08/2020 23:13

I closed every single window, curtain and blind in the house today and it has actually worked. DH and I sat out this evening having a glass of wine in the breeze, baby’s room was a cool 22 degrees and now even our bedroom is nice and cool with the windows open

I think maybe we have our own micro climate cos it’s honestly been fine for us today!

cantknowwhoiam · 07/08/2020 23:14

Absolutely love it! Love having the windows open and just feeling the warmth of the night

MaxNormal · 07/08/2020 23:14

By living in Scotland Sad

I'd love a bit of heat.

AudacityOfHope · 07/08/2020 23:15

Mainly by living in Scotland and listening to the rain pattering on my bedroom window.
Bliss!

Bloodybridget · 07/08/2020 23:16

It's just trying to sleep that's awful, for me, being old and retired I can usually tailor activities to suit myself. But my bedroom is on the second floor facing south . . don't have a fan. Thanks to pps for reminding me that a cool wet flannel could help.
