How is everyone coping with the heat?

Just wondering as I suppose i shouldn't really complain but it's the heat at night, I can't stand.
Have fan on right now, windows wide, water spray and just a sheet for a cover...and it's just about bearable....

Hate it. I’ll swap with anyone that that has less than 20°! 30°+ here today, horrible and sticky Sad

Dullardmullard · 07/08/2020 23:20

PhoneLock · 07/08/2020 23:21

I love it

So do I. A very pleasant 34 earlier today.

Guiltypleasures001 · 07/08/2020 23:22

Well I'm having a continuous period, the pads are making me sore
I'm desperate to go sit in some cold water in the garden
I wonder if my dh will hose me down with the garden hose

OhToBeASeahorse · 07/08/2020 23:25

31 weeks pregnant. A very hot and upset 2 year old.

Fucking hate it.

@TheoriginalLEM

I fucking hate it. Im going to move to alaska
Can I come with you?
Ltdannygreen · 07/08/2020 23:27

Badly! I’m generally a hot blooded person so even 20 is too much for me. A little tip to get you through the night, wet a tea towel, pop it in the freezer for 15/20 minutes, and put it under your head or neck when sleeping. It’s a dream 😊

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 07/08/2020 23:29

@AudacityOfHope

Mainly by living in Scotland and listening to the rain pattering on my bedroom window. Bliss!
Do you have a spare room Grin
TheChosenTwo · 07/08/2020 23:30

I’m in my element! This is my natural climate 😂 I’m under my duvet, shutters closed but windows open. I can’t cope with fans, noisy and ugly or annoying because they either swivel and make a clicky sound or you fix them in place and get utterly blasted. Would much rather do without.
My bedroom is measuring 31 degrees. Bliss!

EmmiJay · 07/08/2020 23:30

I had a hot soapy shower and honestly it was the best thing ever. Got on me pants and vest, lumped out in front of the fan and feeling cool now. Perfect!

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/08/2020 23:35

DH, myself and DS1 are doing fine, lots of drinks, ice lollies and dips in and out of the paddling pool during the day. DH and DS1 fell asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow.

DS2, 10 months is seriously suffering and has been a hot, grumpy, sweaty mess all day. I must have filled his sippy cup about 30 times today. His nursery is baking, despite fans so DH has taken one for the team and is sleeping in there while I have him rolling about naked, bar a nappy in my bed. It's going to be a long night. Could be worse, this time last year I was 30 weeks pregnant and I just marooned myself in the living room with all the shutters down and my feet in a washing up bowl filled with ice water.

Just wish our building works were finished, the air con was installed in our loft room today, but there's no floor.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 07/08/2020 23:37

I’m sticky, sweaty and sweary. Working today and all weekend. Honest to gods my core temperature must be so high if I shoved a frozen sausage up my fanjo it would come out cooked.

And if one more person tells me it’s a beautiful day and they’re off to the beach, I’m going to twat them over the head with my Covid screen.

I’m still boiling, but I feel strangely better now 😂

coronabeer23 · 07/08/2020 23:37

I just love it. It makes me properly happy

surlycurly · 07/08/2020 23:39

Another one in Scotland. What is this 'heat' you speak of? Is it perhaps the thing you get off an electric fire that gives you the tartan legs?

MaverickDanger · 07/08/2020 23:41

It didn’t seem to get properly hot in our corner of the South West today. Our house is a new build so does a great job at staying cool.

Windows and blinds closed all day then opened about 8pm ish. We sleep under a sheet and eiderdown, with a fan, windows closed so it’s about 23 degrees, which is pleasant.

Yumyumicedbuns · 07/08/2020 23:42

Come down to North Cornwall. Thick fog rolled in this afternoon and still here. Send some hot sunny weather our way, please!

StormyLovesOdd · 07/08/2020 23:50

I've never liked the heat and now I get hot flushes it's unbearable. I'm in bed with all the windows open and a cold damp Towel draped over me instead of my duvet.

It's the only way I can sleep in this weather

Kaiserin · 08/08/2020 00:20

OK in the day, but somehow suffocating at night.
I've got a wet flannel to keep me cool. It works.
But no air in the room, even with the windows open.
I guess I need to find a fan, or go sleep in the garden...

PeggyBundy · 08/08/2020 00:35

Hideous. Menopausal and already boiling so this is an extra special layer of hell. I have a water spray and a fan.

BashfulClam · 08/08/2020 00:39

Heat? Not in Scotland. I bloody hate when the online news states ‘Britain’ is having 30c heat when I’ve not even opened the top button on my duffle coat.

KatherineParr4 · 08/08/2020 00:41

No heat here. Another one on Scotland. I love hot summers and hate being cold and wet.

AriettyHomily · 08/08/2020 00:43

Can't. Sleep. 32 in our bedroom right now. A/c and a flyscreen I'd be happy as Larry.

happymummy12345 · 08/08/2020 00:44

North west here and last Saturday was low 20's until the afternoon then it turned cloudy. Not great all week. Today was 23 and cloudy. According to the weather app on my phone between 23-25 is the highest we will get, mix of sun and cloud over the weekend, then cloudy with the chance of rain next week. Nothing like the weather everyone else seems to have at all. Which suits me as I'm extremely sun intolerant and burn easily, and I hate the sun and too much heat anyway. I like warm but cloudy so I don't have to bother with a ton of sun cream so I can even just step outside the door for 5 minutes.

GlamGiraffe · 08/08/2020 00:47

I think its fabulous. I love the heat. Fan on low in bed as normal, it doesn't affect me. I was out walking today in London and the digital thetmkneterxwas flashing 38°, it was lovely. I spend most of the time feeling freezing so this is blissful.

TheySeeHerRowling · 08/08/2020 00:47

I'm coping by thanking fuck I'm not still in the M25 traffic jam in an unair-conditioned car I was in earlier on.
