Neighbours music - what time is reasonable for it to go on until?

Obviously now is ok, as it's only 1015 on a Friday night, but at what time would you feel it was unreasonable? I can't close my window as it's too hot and because sound rises, music from their garden rises right into my bedroom. They're not playing anything awful or at excessive volume but it is every single night when it's warm enough and has been for years

I don't think it's reasonable every single night. We have a neighbour who has massively loud parties but about 3 times a year. That's ok.

It isn't ok to keep your neighbours awake more than very occasionally and it isn't really ok to stop them enjoying their garden.

That's interesting, I think I've lost perspective. They have music on in their living room but with doors to the garden open. They also smoke so the house smells of cigarettes. It's difficult because I do actually really like them but tbh I wouldn't have bought the house had I known

I really dread the warm weather because of all this “open plan” living by neighbours and can’t wait for it to get dark early and cold: isn’t that sad? Trouble is, living in the SE, our “summers“ are getting longer and warmer and our winters shorter.

If they are really nice people, can you have a conversation with them? We did with our next door neighbour about their excessive and loud music from their garden gazebo and things have improved hugely. I said “If we don’t tell you, you won’t know.” They agreed!

We do have another neighbour who is naturally noisy and loves his outside music but wouldn’t be amenable. We can live with it as it’s not every day or late.

Everything seems more and more geared for mixing the house and the garden: big bifold doors where sound pours out, and I can’t bear to think of “wonderful” inventions like outdoor cinemas, garden TV, powerful outdoor speakers ( which our neighbour has) yet we are all hemmed in. These surely don’t belong to UK gardens and houses.
