Sleepovers - stay up till they’re asleep?

Pondering the idea of a sleepover for DDs 12th birthday in the future. Thinking she’d invite 4 friends. The thing at the moment seems to be to stay up verrry late, 3, 4am. We haven’t had one here since that’s been the cool thing.

So, would we have to stay up till they’d gone to sleep? I’m thinking not, but DH thinks yes. What age do you not? They’re all nice and sensible-ish, but is it irresponsible to leave 5 nearly 12 yr olds up while we’re asleep?

It seems to be the thing at the minute to stay up as late as possible. I just leave my 12 year old and her friends to it and tell them not to wake me up!

My 11yo does this, I go to sleep and leave them. They're not allowed in the kitchen or outside and they know if they wake the baby up they're all in major trouble. They're absolutely fine although annoying when they decamp to the living room to sleep and I come down at 6 to unconscious children all over my couch when I want to eat my cereal in peace. I take great pleasure in letting the baby wake them all up when they do that

leave them to it ,i just let them get on with it and tell them not to wake me unless its an emergency ,once they start on a film they tend to calm down and fallasleep

I really really wish I was able to go to sleep when my DD has a sleepover.
I find I can't relax enough.
If I could I most certainly would!

Oh that’s really interesting. Thank you everyone. Sounds a bit more manageable then!
