According to your child, why are you the worst parent ever?

According to DS1 (9), I am the worst mother ever because I won't let him watch the end of his programme in my bedroom. His tablet battery died midway through the episode and DH is watching the snooker downstairs.

I no longer allow the DC to watch TV in my room because they have frequently treated the room like crap and don't respect that it's not their space, wrestling on the sofa, throwing cushions everywhere etc, and it's nice to have a space that I don't have to clear up after them.

Plus, I'm already in here and I was enjoying the peace!

Breathing
Feeding her but the wrong food
Making her wash or wear clean clothes

cleanermam92 · 06/08/2020 19:00

Feeding him the dinner he asked for 🙃

Mol1628 · 06/08/2020 19:01

Making him wear trousers. Making him brush his teeth properly. Reminding him to flush the toilet. He’s 7. He’s going to be fun as a teenager.

Mine are older now but DS1 came out with some great ones when he was younger

Once when we cut a dead branch off a tree he had a major tantrum and declared that he wished he could discover that he was adopted (he was 5)

Once when I changed all the door handles in our house so that they were all the same he declared me the worst mother ever because now he was going to get bored when he walked through doors since they would all be the same (he was about 6)

amusedtodeath1 · 06/08/2020 19:01

Right now I'm awesome mum to my 16 YO because her DD forgot he was supposed to be picking her up for tea after he rearranged their usual Tuesday night Usually though I'm just the worst parent ever because I make her do "stuff" (tidy her room, load dishwasher and shower). Confused

Trailing1 · 06/08/2020 19:06

Feeding them
Breathing
Stopping them from doing dangerous stuff because I am a boring kill joy

TakeASadSong · 06/08/2020 19:07

12 yr old DD:

Because I won’t let her have her phone in her room overnight (the injustice of it!)

Because I take her phone away when she has chores to do and give it back to her when she’s finished (to stop her mindlessly scrolling tiktok when I've asked her to put her laundry away, for instance). I’m just THE worst!

DS (15):

Because I NEVER have ‘proper food’ in the house (no endless supply of crisps, super noodles & skittles) and I must be trying to starve him (he’s 6’4, built like an outhouse...looks fine to me!)

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 06/08/2020 19:08

It's been a while, but "stop being reasonable!".

uglyface · 06/08/2020 19:11

Not allowing her to launch herself into a pool without flotation devices.
Preventing her from running into oncoming traffic.
Changing her shitty nappy.

She’s 20 months old, so can’t verbalise it yet but I’m pretty sure that’s what she was thinking....

YoBeaches · 06/08/2020 19:14

She can't talk yet, but most likely because I CANNOT help her walk everywhere all day for 13 waking hours. Sometimes she just has to go in the pram or sit on the floor.

Que the lying down, bum in the air, hissy fit.

formerbabe · 06/08/2020 19:15

My 12 year old ds has to go to bed at 9pm...he's allowed to read for a bit. He hates this...apparently his friends all go to bed past midnight Hmm

PumpkinParent · 06/08/2020 19:16

My five year old thinks I am a horrible mother because I wouldn’t let him have Haribo for breakfast, I asked if he’d like to go for a walk to break up the day a bit and, in the afternoon, could he please not hit his sister on the head with his wooden train even if she was really annoying all the time (his words). Apparently these things (just today’s instalment and there will be other reasons I have forgotten) taken together mean he can never have any fun ever again and life is so boring. DH is just putting them to bed as I (ahem) check work emails. The wine is already cold.

TakeASadSong · 06/08/2020 19:17

@formerbabe

Isn’t it funny how ‘ALL their friends go to bed at midnight/can go on their screens whenever they want/get whatever they ask for’ ? Grin

formerbabe · 06/08/2020 19:17

Oh and he was asked to get dressed this morning as he was still in his pjs at 11.30am...apparently this was an unreasonable request.

formerbabe · 06/08/2020 19:19

@TakeASadSong. I know right! His best mate goes to bed at 3am apparently...Hmm

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/08/2020 19:19

I got told I was the meanest mum ever the other day for asking DS to turn YouTube down a bit.

Millie2013 · 06/08/2020 19:19

DD went on one of those trampoline thingies where they wear a harness today. She wanted to do a somersault, but the trampoline wasn’t bouncy enough and then her 5 minutes was up
Obviously, this was all my fault. All of it Grin

To make things worse, we stopped for ice cream on the way home and in the past 48 hours, she’s gone off ice cream

dottydally · 06/08/2020 19:20

8 months (crawling and pulling himself up)

I wouldn't allow him to put the loo brush in his mouth. Awful mummy!

Zakidoodles23 · 06/08/2020 19:21

My 5 year old wants a puppy for his birthday. I'm the worst for saying no as we live in a flat, only have a balcony and I work 8 hrs x 3 days. He said he would give up school to stay home with the dog. Apparently, there is no point even having a birthday without a puppy.

puguin86 · 06/08/2020 19:22

Because they were born in December and not in the summer like their friends Hmm

Cabinfever10 · 06/08/2020 19:25

Ds 11
I have parental blocks of all his devices so no tiktok ect, also no fortnight.
Apparently im not only the worst parent but the cruelest too

allthewaterinthetap · 06/08/2020 19:26

I like this meme for when they wish they were adopted.

According to your child, why are you the worst parent ever?
scrivette · 06/08/2020 19:27

DD age 2 this morning because I wouldn't let her have a snack... the reason being was that she was in the middle of eating breakfast.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 06/08/2020 19:28

Sorry you're the worst parents ever - I'm actually the world's best mum because I have 'soft hairy armpits for stroking' according to my two year old.

preens

topcat2014 · 06/08/2020 19:31

Wouldn't let my dd get a shorter skirt for year 9 than she had worn in year 8.
