I've won an Apple Watch. Keep it or sell it? Anyone got one?

Won it in a work raffle, new unopened series 5 Apple Watch 40mm. I'd never thought of getting one before, I have the latest iPhone so I could keep it but don't want to open the packaging just to realise I don't really need it and then have to sell it for less. I have a wedding to pay for this year so it could go towards that, but part of me wants to keep it as a little treat.

Anyone got one? Do you love it, or not that bothered? I'm not really sporty, I like the sound of being a bit more motivated to be a bit more active but I don't run or anything like that. I guess I could start, probably won't though.

It's a nice problem to have but can anyone help me Smile

Well I love mine! I’m not sporty at all, I just love a bit of tech 😉. It has loads of useful features like being able to see who’s calling without having to rummage through your bag, same with messages, you can ping your phone if you can’t find it in your house. That’s obviously a fraction but I wouldn’t like to be without mine now.

keep it, I absolutely love mine. Has also been fantastic to use it as contactless payment

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 06/08/2020 10:40

Yes! Apple Pay!

kopinghip · 06/08/2020 10:42

Absolutely love mine, definitely keep it.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 06/08/2020 10:44

Keep it. I love mine!

Love mine. I do use it for quite a lot of sports, but also Apple Pay, messaging, weather, finding my phone. But it's definitely brilliant for the nudge to keep active.

That's all the convincing I need! Thanks Grin I've never won something before and I felt a bit naughty keeping it when could probably do with the money but screw it Smile

I think it depends what you’re going to use it for.
Mine used to be useful because I could quickly glance at messages in meetings without having my phone out and the same while walking to work. I also used to use it for tracking calories burnt during workouts which was great.
However since lockdown and working from home it’s utterly useless to me and I haven’t worn it since March

Love mine I'd keep it! Didn't even want it and scowled at dh 'shit' present. Haven't take it off except to charge for about two years now Grin

My mum got one for free and gave it to me, I thought it was a barbed criticism as I never wore a watch, ever, I hated the feel of one on my wrist and she said it would help me lose weight. A year on and I won't be without it, I use it for so much stuff (including asking siri to set a timer for cooking).

I'm. It sporty at all. I also never used to wear a watch ever, but use mine every day when out and about now.

At work it's great as my phone has to be in a locked cupboard, but as it's in the same room my email and messages come through to my watch - useful incase if last minute info I need. I can also reply via the watch.

Apple Pay is so easy to use. I also use the wallet function for travel too. Especially at the moment with contactless being used more it's really quick to flash my watch (advantage is it doesn't need Face ID like my phone which is rubbish if wearing a mask!) to pay for stuff, even more so on public transport.

I have my school timetable in it normally so the front screen shows me which class I'm in next and where. Useful as my timetable changes weekly in normal times.

I was surprised just how much I used mine.

Thanks for responses! Definitely going to keep it. I love it already purely because it's pretty. Any app recommendations?
