Layla Moran - BBC podcast and as an LD leadership candidate

I've just listened to the Layla Moran interview on Nick Robinson's Political Thinking podcast series and I'm quite astonished by how naive she comes across as. She says a lot of interesting things, but she also gives the impression of being someone who is all too ready to nail her colours to any current and fashionable "cause".

I can see why LD members would vote for her, but honestly, I think it would be not good news for the party if she became leader. If I were an LD member (which I'm not) I would personally have voted for Ed Davey last time round, because he just seems so much more substantial than either Swinson or Moran. Granted, he doesn't have their "appeal", but he has been a cabinet minister and has a strong record in terms of policy and speaking out on particular issues of importance. Had he been leader, I don't imagine the LDs would have got all the attention and defectees pre-election, but I imagine they might have done better in the election itself...

It is kind of hard to have to admit that you don't want the charismatic, young female candidate to win... but I hope it will be possible for LD members to make that decision without being accused of being sexist/racist/prejudiced against pansexual people/old fashione/boring/etc.
