That promenade looks like Madeira Cove at Weston Super Mare. It had that pillared design up until a storm sometime during the 80s when it destroyed and rebuilt.

These buildings could be the terrace on the right

The other picture might be at Tropicana, the old Lido at Weston (famous more recently for the Banksy 'Dismaland' exhibition).

Thank you! Yes weston makes sense. The children are my mum and auntie. Neither can remember where they were. They did holiday a lot in weston.

Yes I remember the paddling pool thing on the beach ( not the Lido)

I think it was built as the sea goes so far out. We were never allowed in it as my GP's said there was glass in there probably too lazy to supervise us

Madeira Cove has a sort of dam that keeps the sea in, so that's where we usually sat when I went there as a child in the 70s and 80s. I live up north now so haven't been to Weston for years.
