Does anybody remember going here and there being a rollercoaster or some sort of fast ride that was completly pitch black?

I remember going there it wasn't far from my grandparents. Can't remember that ride though!

CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 18:52

I'm not 100% sure it was there haha. I went in the late 90s and accidently got on this ride. It was a fast moving ride totally in the dark.

Not Alton towers, drayton manor, chessington or Thorpe park.

I've only been once and don't remember a ride in the dark
X no way out at Thorpe Park is in the dark though. It also goes backwards

Not at the American Adventure. There was The Black Hole ride at Alton Towers.
American Adventure had the Missile - that was their big attraction. And the Buffalo Ride.
And Boot Hill.

I loved the American Adventure. It was so naff

RedCatBlueCat · 31/07/2020 18:55

I'm pretty sure they had a black hole, but it could have been at Alton towers. We went to the American adventure much more often tho. I dont know exactly what, but our postcode got us cheep entry in the early days.

JewelTheft · 31/07/2020 18:56

There was a ride in the late 80s/90s I remember going on called the black hole, which was dark. But not at the American adventure theme park because I've never been there! It must have been Alton towers, Thorpe park or chessington.

Nuffaluff · 31/07/2020 18:56

Yes, The Black Hole was definitely Alton Towers

GetUpAgain · 31/07/2020 18:56

I loved American Adventure but can't remember that. Alton Towers Black Hole was epic though.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 31/07/2020 18:57

There was one st Blackpool pleasure beach?

wheresmyhairytoe · 31/07/2020 18:58

There was The Rat at Lightwater Valley.

RammyEwie · 31/07/2020 18:58

There was the Black Hole at Alton Towers which went round in the dark.

The American Adventure was great, and not just because my granddad designed the log flume, rapids and runaway train Grin

Eyesofdisarray · 31/07/2020 18:59

I went on the Black Hole at Alton Towers- i was terrified..
All in darkness, except for occasional flashes of light which revealed a very high roller coaster with big drops.
I have never been the same since.......
Shock

SpacePug · 31/07/2020 19:01

I forgot all about American adventure! Used to go there for birthdays when I was young. Don't remember the dark ride though

Ohsuchaperfectday · 31/07/2020 19:01

Op I adored American adventure! Loved it!

I only remember the sweets and log flume.

Twizbe · 31/07/2020 19:03

I think the dark ride was the black hole at Alton towers.

I went to American adventure once as it was close to my grandparents.

We spent a lot of the time in the managers office. I was a very tall child and another parent complained about me being in the under 5s section (I was 3) and the parent and staff member both shouted at me and told me off. My dad was livid!

Iwantacookie · 31/07/2020 19:05

I remember that. It was like the waltzers in the dark. Loved that place. Gutted when it closed.

CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 19:06

Ahhh its driving me mad. Could have been alton towers then.

OP posts:
CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 19:07

Yes it was dark hole! Thank you! Was convinced it was American adventure haha.

OP posts:
PeigiSu · 31/07/2020 19:07

Yes! I think it was called Waltzer in the dark and it was basically teacups in the pitch black. My dad looked green afterwards!

GameSetMatch · 31/07/2020 19:21

@TakeMeToYourLiar I remember the black hole at the Pleasure Beach, wasn’t it like a waltzer but in the pitch black?

Floralnomad · 31/07/2020 19:25

We used to go there but the dark ride was definitely at Alton Towers , it was on the right hand side as you walk down towards where Oblivion is . The big ride at American Adventure was the roller coaster that did a loop going forwards and then did the same track in reverse .

Whathewhatnow · 31/07/2020 19:27

Wow. I had completely forgotten about the existence of that place. I loved it.

I also reckon you are thinking of the Rat at Lightwater Valley. That was a great ride.

mummyh2016 · 31/07/2020 19:28

Used to love American adventure! Especially that ride with the seats that moved as you watched the screen.

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 31/07/2020 19:47

I like.American Adventure. It was the only place where I ever found my name on a keyring Grin
