Call or email them?

Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 12:34

No response
Not answering phone calls due to virus

My understanding was that with the OU you can cancel until about 3 weeks after the course starts, so if your application was for next october you should be fine.

I think the have an online chat thing going.

Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 12:42

Can’t get anywhere with either
There is just no where to say you want to cancel and neither are answering phones

Send them an email. They usually respond within a week.

Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 13:03

I’ve sent open uni an email
But there’s no option to do that with student finance
Why is it alway so difficult to cancel stuff
I have the same problem trying to cancel amazon prime

OP posts:
bruffin · 31/07/2020 13:09

Amazon prime is easy to cancelConfused

Have you got the right number for student finance, it is the busiest time of year but DD has spoken to them several times this summer and not had to wait too long

murasaki · 31/07/2020 13:10

Surely if you withdraw from the programme, you won't be an enrolloed student, so won't get the finance automatically.

Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 13:15

There’s no number for student finance on the form

OP posts:
Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 13:15

I’d be glad of the number if someone has it
I’m getting very stressed

JacobReesMogadishu · 31/07/2020 13:18

Yes if you don't enrol you won't get any finance.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 31/07/2020 13:19

I "spoke" to Student Finance England on Twitter, they were remarkably helpful (considering my previous interactions with them involved me telling them which page on their website they needed to look at, when they told me they couldn't do something)

wentawaycameback · 31/07/2020 13:24

When are you intending to start? I am not sure if the open university is different but at this stage, if you have accepted your place at any University for a Sept start is only an 'intention to study.' Enrollment comes later - another set of forms just before you start. You haven't committed to either the course or the finance.

Madeacockup · 31/07/2020 13:33

Thanks everyone
Just getting stressed as per is me .
I’ve spoken to finance, and emailed ou
But it’s taken me ages of going through everything ,it really should be easier
Neither organisation have an option to cancel application, when your logged in on your account
I feel there should be

OP posts:
bruffin · 31/07/2020 14:11

I think probably all happens on results day
You get your offer and then decline it, not sure if OU works the same as other unis

help.open.ac.uk/cancelling-your-module-eng-wales

You need to contact the OU and tell them that you want to cancel and they will inform Student Finance.

As far as I'm aware student recruitment are still working over the summer or if you're definitely enrolled on a module, the student support team are probably the best bet to contact.

It can take a while to get an answer when you ring but I've never had any problems getting through to speak to them. I've always found them really helpful.
