Can you do driving lessons without a photocard licence? (With just the paper bit)

Probably a stupid question but I can’t find the answer. The provisional licence card has been lost but DD has the paper bit. She doesn’t have an instructor yet so can’t ask them.

I dont think so as you dont use the paper bits any more. She should apply for a replacement photocard and report the other one as lost

The paper counterpart no longer exists so no she will need to order a new licence.
