How often do you get your hair cut to maintain it?

I hate having my hair cut so I average about twice a year. However, it was getting to an unmanageable length for me. I've had it cut off to just below my shoulders by a lovely mobile hairdresser. How often should I get it cut? I was thinking every 8 weeks. Is that about right? Sorry if it's a stupid question I just have never bothered to regularly get it done so I don't know.

I have mine done about every 4-6 weeks but it’s a bob and dyed so it needs more attention. When it was its own colour and longer I used to have it down every 2-3 months.

I get mine cut and coloured each half term holiday. So every 6-8 weeks.

I get mine coloured every 8 weeks and cut every 4 months. But this is because I have fine wispy hair that barely grows so it doesn't need cutting that often.

Every 12-18 months 🤣
I dread the expense and hassle once I have to start colouring it!

SweetPetrichor · 29/07/2020 09:08

I'd say every 8 weeks or so for you.
I loathed having my hair cut so I shaved it off...it needs a go over with the clippers once a week but I can do that myself and it's easy peasy. Grin

Every 6/8 weeks for a trim. My hair is is amazing condition compared to when I was getting it cut twice a year.

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 29/07/2020 09:25

Every 3 months. I find around this time it starts looking messy and being unmanageable.

yeOldeTrout · 29/07/2020 09:27

Usually get it shorn once a year. Am thinking about skipping 2020 & waiting until 2021 now.

ParisOnWheels · 29/07/2020 09:35

When I was trying to keep it to a certain longish style I went 8 weekly. More often when it was a short style. Now it’s long but not really in a style I get it done every 4 - 6 months.

Billyjoearmstrong · 29/07/2020 10:33

Every two years, maybe longer Blush

It’s long and I’m broke to be fair. Every couple of years MIL will get me a voucher for a hairdresser for christmas.

Although when I had a fringe, I paid £2 every 4 weeks to have it trimmed at the local hairdresser. I grew it out in the end as she was always aghast at my split ends and badgering me to get a cut I couldn’t afford.

Billyjoearmstrong · 29/07/2020 10:34

And when I do get it cut it’s a ballache as they are always on at me to have a “style”. But it would be pointless as I can’t upkeep one.

Undies1990 · 29/07/2020 10:51

Every four months for me. Too expensive and too much hassle to have it done more regularly!

Greengrapes1357 · 29/07/2020 11:02

6 weekly.
But me and dd could probably got 7/8 weekly however boys don't like it too long therefore I keep to 6 weeks.

FraughtwithGin · 29/07/2020 11:27

Cut/trimmed every 4 weeks or so.
Highlights twice a year or 3 times, if I am feeling flush.

EmmaStone · 29/07/2020 11:31

Every 6-8 weeks, but my hair's fairly short and grows slowly. Coloured every other visit.

avocadotofu · 29/07/2020 11:31

I don't enjoy getting my hair cut so usually once or twice a year.

Thanks all. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates having their hair cut. I'm going to do 8-10 weeks. My mobile hairdresser is, imo, cheap, she does my hair how I like and she is fast too. I'm not a fan of the salons. They scare me. I'd be better at a traditional barbers Grin
