Feeling a change in the seasons

You know that feeling you get when you wake up one morning and the air feels different and you know the season is changing. I feel like that this morning, which is quite strange for July. Anyone else feel it yet?

Yes. It seems to have started at least 3 weeks too early!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/07/2020 09:20

I've always thought for the past few years that April, May and June feel more like summer and by August it's starting to feel autumn-like.

Elouera · 28/07/2020 09:20

Yes, i've felt this too! We have a streetlight near our window, and I;ve also noticed it turning on earlier in the evenings, which is disappointing. The soltice was a month ago now though, so to be expected I guess!

This weekend is going to be very hot and very sunny!

TheVanguardSix · 28/07/2020 09:27

Yes! I always consider May/June peak 'summer'. I've always found August in the UK to be more autumnal. But since July, everything feels much more 'on the turn'- more this year than before.

BrokenBrit · 28/07/2020 09:29

Yes, it is actually a thing that the seasons are shifting apparently, can’t remember where but I read an article on it a while back.
Having said that it’s going to be 30 degrees here on Friday and we are not in the south!

TheVanguardSix · 28/07/2020 09:29

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are going to be scorchers! Shock
I take it all back! Grin
33 where I am on Friday. It's a bit all or nothing at the moment!

DressingGownofDoom · 28/07/2020 09:36

Hmmm 23 and raining where I live on Friday. Hopefully the rain changes its mind and summer gets a last hurrah!

I find that too. 2018 flipped from winter to summer with only confused flowers indicating any kind of spring.

The New Seasons: Winter, More winter, Spring (optional), Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Winter and repeat Wink

Totally get that it's so grey and cold today. Very very windy and about 13c. Feels like October but slightly lighter.

frugalkitty · 28/07/2020 09:44

The garden seems to be ahead of itself this year, plants going over more quickly than usual. I don't mind, I don't like the heat of summer anyway!

SallyWD · 28/07/2020 10:28

Yes I felt this yesterday!
