Public Health Passenger Locator Form

First off this isn't about the rights and wrongs of traveling abroad currently.

For those that do travel abroad (or indeed those that choose to come to England for whatever reason) there is a requirement to complete a Public Health Passenger Inforamation Form. This, as I understand it, is so if you are found to have Covid-19, anyone who was traveling with you (I.e. on a plane/train carriage etc) can be located and asked to isolate for 14 days.

I've just looked at the form and it is only accessible online, and you can only complete it less than 48 hours before arrival in the UK. It can be asked for at border control and you should be ready to show it on your phone. There appears no way to print off a blank form to complete.

How does someone manage if they don't have data roaming/internet access whilst abroad?
What happens if you are unable to access it digitally and so don't do it?
Just wondered if anyone has come across this yet?

Apparently you can fill out a paper one at the border if you don't have internet access.

Ah that's interesting - I couldn't see that on the gov.uk website.

Bet the people in the queue behind would love that Confused

I got caught out by this just last week. And no there were no paper ones that I could see. I think you have to wait for everyone else to go through if you have no data etc. Then they deal with you after. It was a total pain as nearly all the people on my flight didn’t know about it either. Nothing was mentioned until we got to passport control and some guy was yelling at us to scan a QR code on the wall. It was messy and stressful! I wrote a thread about it on the CV board and was told I should have known!

Oh and it was a requirement at border control. They wouldn’t let us through without showing it.

I can imagine, must have been infuriating for people if they didn't know about it.
I wonder how it plays out on Eurotunnel, queues of cars for miles??

It’s a god awful fucking form too. I had to do two last week when we came home from Lanzarote. Has to be said, Jet2 were great at sending reminders for us to fill it out. Most people nowadays should have access to data packages that work in Europe at least.
