The ultimate 'take to the beach' list - add your hacks here

For those who have gone to the beach recently can you remind me of the things to take that make everything so much better.

So far I can think of:

  • Spare pair of clothes for the kids that can just sit in the car all week - just in case.
  • Beach shoes
  • Coffee in a flask

What else?
TIA

Talcum powder. It's amazing at getting the sand off damp sticky skin.

MissNotMrs · 27/07/2020 15:09

Plastic bag for rubbish
Frozen drinks
Suncream/after sun
Wipes
Change for ice cream
Sundays/shade
Satsumas
Anti bac
Balls/bubbles/buckets/spades depending on kids
Snacks
A bottle of Cider and bottle opener if it's really nice weather

Talc. Life changingly handy

bookgirl1982 · 27/07/2020 15:16

Mesh bags for putting beach stuff in - the sand falls through.

I'm eyeing up a small trolley for moving everything from car to beach and back.

sqirrelfriends · 27/07/2020 15:17

If you don't have to walk far then a cool bag filled with ice. Keeps everything cool and you can use the ice for drinks.

Umbrella/beach tent.

Water spray for misting

Can you tell I don't like being too warm?

OohKittens · 27/07/2020 15:19

We live in pembrokeshire so beach is every day here in warm weather. Talc is a must also water shoes here because of weaver fish.

Trumpton · 27/07/2020 15:34

And if you have a toddler a small blow up paddling pool with some seawater in keeps them happy near you .

Alloverthegrapevine · 27/07/2020 15:39

I remember the first time I went to the Med, as a teenager, being amazed at how the locals turned up for a day at the beach with just a towel, when we were always fully laden.

OohKittens · 27/07/2020 16:07

@Alloverthegrapevine because we go swimming at the beach daily in warm weather we take one small rucksack with water, talc, a few small towels and EpiPen plus suntan lotion. We wear our bathers and don't bother with clothes.

We went to West Wittering a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying a wind breaker. It made so much difference as it was quite a windy (but sunny) day. So much warmer because of it.

CoralReefer · 27/07/2020 20:18

We just went the other day. What we took was
Food and drink
Towels, spare clothes, flip flops
Beach toys - buckets and spades, sand mould things, frisbees, ball
Wipes, tissues and plasters

LouiseSP82 · 27/07/2020 20:20

a waterproof case for phone and money (if all in the sea at once)

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 27/07/2020 21:25
