How are you celebrating children’s birthdays this summer?

DC is turning 11 this summer and I’m reluctant to do anything other than a family tea for our household. Just wondered if I was BU.

We’d normally have grandparents and cousins for food and cake, so that would be 4 households and approx 11 people. It would be impossible to social distance them.

We had a garden party last week. Lots of pizzas from Pizza Hut, and a bouncy castle. (DS turned 10 and he and his friends LOVED it, I was worried they'd be too old for it but they never got off it).

We had friends from his bubble at school, older siblings, grandparents. All sat socially distanced.

It was great! The only downside is we had no plan B if It had rained, we would have just had to cancel.

We went to Go Ape for the kids birthdays ( same week aged 10&12) then to TGI fridays for tea...just the 4 of us. Everyone had a nice time

We had a family birthday at the time (DS 10) but plan to have a sleepover with bouncy castle in the next couple of weeks. He will only be able to have 3 friends due to social distancing, normally he'd have about 15 over for a party but he's very happy with that.
