How many houses did you view before you put in an offer?

I'm meant to be house hunting to buy somewhere. I think I've looked at every house for sale in my county at least 4 times online but haven't viewed any in real life. There are only really 2 out of over 300 that I can imagine myself livng in, one considerably more than the other.

I'm going to book a viewing. If I still like it would I be mad to offer without looking anywhere else?

Must have looked at over 100 when we brought this one, although more than half of those would have been newbuild showhouses. There were 3 (including this) which we seriously considered but this was always the favourite. Viewed it quite early on in our search and wanted it immediately but for various reasons the purchase dragged out so we kept on looking. Eventually went through (viewed in May, moved in January) and been here nearly 20 years.

1st house we looked at quite a number but nothing like this one, offered on one but then pulled out, viewed the one we brought and just knew it was right.

We viewed 6 houses and I bought the one that satisfied my non-negotiable criterion of having a separate dining-room. It also happened to be the least expensive, but that was coincidence.
However, the criteria were based on 2 adults, no children and being strategically placed for travel to different locations.

@ExclamationPerfume - what’s wrong with books?

@Stabbitha

It's a semi on the right looking from the street, so the side access to the West and the gap between the houses means it gets some sun.

The garden is the compromise, the rest of the house seems perfect.

I think out of the main compromises which is, upstairs bathroom, off street parking, 4th bedroom, decent garden or decent area. The garden is the best one to compromise on.

We wanted a 3 bed house on a certain road.

It had to have off street parking and an upstairs bathroom. They were my only requirements.

We looked at one 3 bed house on that certain road and we've been living here happily for 18 years. It has a downstairs bathroom and no parking Grin

@musmerian The house was full of books in every single room. You could barely walk round it there was piles everywhere. Literally thousands of them. We certainly didn't want the lady's old books. She thought that was a bonus her leaving them for us.

First house we viewed about 20, second house just the 1 and current house only the 1 again.

I looked as 11 houses before we made an offer which was accepted and we moved in relatively stress free as no chain. However, we did lots of research on the house against our criteria and didn't bother going if it didn't fit. The first few helped us get the "lay of the land" after about house 5 (on day 1) we knew what we wanted.

It was the only house we viewed and we had an offer accepted after 2nd viewing. Unfortunately, vendor became seriously ill and had to pull out just before exchange, which was devastating. I do think if you know what you're looking for, you know (what we want is very specific, we found it and it was a pretty easy decision).
