Fuck. Sent embarrassing Boots order to wrong address- is it confidential?

MIL asked me to buy something from Boots a while ago and it's saved her address.

I think DC have worms so I ordered Ovex. I can't even begin to explain how much I cannot get into this with her.

Is she going to be able to see what I've ordered? Boots won't let me cancel or amend Angry

Her email address? Yes, she'll likely see the order which would list items.

Her home address? Yes, she could open the parcel.

gramercie · 23/07/2020 22:09

Her home address. She's not likely to open it but I'm wondering if they'll make her sign for it?

Just tell her it’s coming and to pass it to you - why would she open it then?

Why would it be embarrassing? Kids get worms 🤷🏽‍♀️

Winter2019 · 23/07/2020 22:12

No, surely it's not gona be written on the box what's in it. Just give MIL heads up that it's coming and to let u know once it arrives

gramercie · 23/07/2020 22:13

She won't need to sign for it specifically, though? I had to go through the online pharmacy.

I know that, you know that, but honestly, she would be unbearable.

Most deliveries are contacted at the moment, I doubt they'd want a signature

Mamette · 23/07/2020 22:16

Something like 40% of children have worms at any given time. Your MIL needs to grow up if this is such an issue.

Santasunhelpfulhelper · 23/07/2020 22:17

I haven’t had to sign for any of my boots orders. They came via Royal Mail.

gramercie · 23/07/2020 22:20

Oh god I hope so. Thanks!

We've had Ovex for pudding tonight 😄😋🙈.

gramercie · 23/07/2020 22:22

It's such a treat, isn't it? Really the glamorous side of motherhood.

I had a Boots order a couple of weeks ago, DH was asked to sign for it. My order was in a brown box and the paperwork DH signed was gor a delivery but didn't itemise what was in the box. So worse case scenario DMiL is asked to sign I don't think she will know what is in the delivery.

mumwon · 23/07/2020 22:25

no worms but nits however...

Mustbetimeforachange · 23/07/2020 22:27

If MIL has been in close contact with the children she probably has them anyway. Better order her some as well Grin

gramercie · 23/07/2020 22:28

Thank you 2gorgeousboys. That's so helpful.

Weirdly enough, mine have never have nits.

Why did I post that? I've 100% tempted fate now.

Now this made me laugh Grin Grin Grin

If she opens it and makes a fuss tell her you ordered it for her as you saw her scratch her bum.

SenselessUbiquity · 23/07/2020 22:38

If the box is addressed to you, she can't open it. If she is nosy enough to ask what it is, tell her you have the clap. When she looks horrified and tries to change the subject, say "you know how it is - when you piss and it's all on fire down there? ha ha ha ha ha! And the discharge! The smell! Oh yeah, we've all been there, right!" and dig her in the ribs

labyrinthloafer · 23/07/2020 22:39

I don't understand how or why she could've unbearable about something like worms??

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/07/2020 22:41

Why would she make a fuss. God I would tell her to get a grip. Worms can be picked up anywhere! My ds1 was always bringing them home because his fingers were never out his mouth.

Hairthrowaway · 23/07/2020 22:47

If she asks, just make out that you’re panic buying “just in case” due to coronavirus if you’re embarrassed. You can pass off that there isn’t an urgent need thanks to COVID

In my experience, the contents of a Boots order isn’t listed on the outside. But there’s a risk that she could look inside.

If it’s been dispatched, ask boots to return the order to sender?

Witchend · 23/07/2020 22:48

You ordered it for a friend who's ill so can't get to the shops, and hasn't got an account with Boots. Aren't you kind?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/07/2020 22:49

No help, but I was in Boots yesterday to pick up a click and collect which you do at the pharmacy. As I was waiting a woman and her teenage daughter came along, and the woman asked for thrush cream. Due to masks/visors (already compulsory here in Scotland), she had to repeat it four times, twice to a sales assistant, then twice to the pharmacist. The daughter was dying. It is hard to convey sympathy while wearing a mask.
