Areas of Stoke/Newcastle U.L???

We have to move to stoke for DH's job. He doesn't drive so will need to be able to access festival park by public transport, I'm a sahm at the moment so would like to be able to meet other mums without having to drive (although I DO drive so CAN, I just prefer to walk or take a bus/train when I can). Anyone have any experience of areas? Someone recommended Newcastle-under-lyme and basford but I have no idea.

We currently live in a small town/large village in Shropshire which we love; a couple of cafes/pubs/restaurants, a few hairdressers, butchers, grocers, florists and a few shops. Hourly buses to bigger towns and hourly trains to towns/cities. We'd love to live somewhere similar, but know it might not be possible - we will only be there for a couple of years renting. Where we currently live is just that bit too far to be commutable by public transport, it would be doable if DH could drive but he can't (medical reason). So we have to move. I've never lived in a city and am not against it, I just don't see the appeal of a "city centre" particularly.

ANYTHING you can tell us will be so useful. TIA

Where abouts in festival park, is it bet 365 or voda phone? Festival park is about a 20 minute walk from the city centre so he could live anywhere really and get the bus into it. Totally depending on your budget etc, new castle is nice, Wolstanton is lovely. They’re are some new builds near festival park (Etruria locks being one of them and there on literally across the road from bet365)
