Am I being silly wanting to go on holiday next summer

My family and I were due to go to Spain for two weeks this summer but obviously was cancelled due to the pandemic.

I’m kind of thinking about rebooking it for next summer - am I being naive? Is it likely to be safe enough to go away next summer?

You’re allowed to go now.

Nobody can tell you if you’ll definitely be able to go. But there seems a pretty good chance to me.

Yes..I am thinking of booking up for france.

timeforawine · 20/07/2020 20:52

I'm going next month

Mumtumwobble · 20/07/2020 20:53

I really hope so. We cancelled our holiday to Turkey for this summer as we felt it was just too risky but hoping we can go away next year instead.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 20/07/2020 20:54

I'm going next month to Italy and I've booked for august 21 too.

amusedbush · 20/07/2020 20:58

We’re looking to go away in October, probably to Turkey.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/07/2020 21:23

Why would it be silly? People are going on holiday now! I'm booked for February.

TreacherousPissFlap · 20/07/2020 21:27

We've already booked for next year, a bigger holiday than usual as we have "spare" holiday money already as we've had 2 cancelled this year.

Obviously we can't know for sure we'll be able to travel, but if we are allowed we'll be ready Grin

timetest · 20/07/2020 22:28

We’re off to Italy in September. Can’t wait.

Because I don’t believe going on holiday at this point in time is the right thing to do. Just interested to see if it might still be a big risk this time next year.

I think that depends on what you consider to be an unacceptable risk. Plenty of people ( me included) don't consider a holiday this summer to be a risk. If you mean 'will there still be COVID about? Well, maybe. 'If there is COVID about will there be special measures and local lockdowns?' Probably. Life might be back to normal, it might be a bit different, it might ( I hope not) be an apocalyptic shitstorm. In which case, I'll be glad I made it to France when I had the chance,
