Anyone noticed that white dog poo is making a come back?

I saw 3 piles of it on my walk with my own dog this morning. Took me right back to my 80’s childhood. Is it back? If it is then why?

Raw fed dogs that have had too much bone I'd guess.

Babs709 · 20/07/2020 13:44

My dog does white poohs, raw diet mainly. But you wouldn’t know because I pick them up. Makes me so cross that you saw so much of it left.

I think it’s unfair that you would start such a wonderfully nostalgic thread, without providing an educational photo for our unfamiliar younger viewers.

If I don’t pick my dogs poo up from the garden for a couple of days it goes white. She’s raw fed on a pre-made frozen cubes which have bone meal in them. I suspect the increase in white poo is down to the increase of raw fed dogs.

Benny739 · 20/07/2020 13:48

Ah yes, raw diet would explain it!

It’s disgusting that people don’t pick it up. It was down ‘dog dirt alley’. This area of town is pretty clean but because the alleyway’s hidden people obviously think they can just leave it.

Yes sorry I’ll add that my dog doesn’t do white pooh, but they go white after a while. Not sure how long, never timed it! I suspect a day or two?

Benny739 · 20/07/2020 13:49

Although the white dog dirt is less offensive than standard brown and it seems to just turn to chalk (no excuse to leave it though!)

Raw fed dog poo is less offensive in general than kibble fed dog poo. It’s less smelly and there’s less of it in general as they digest most of the raw food. Not a reason not to pick it up though.

Wifeofbikerviking · 20/07/2020 23:13

It goes white after being left. This is the stage where the worms are most contagious and dangerous to young children.
It really bloody annoys me when people dont pick up

DontDoItGeorge · 20/07/2020 23:21

Not the point of the thread but back in the 80's we had a dog shit alley on the way to school, god it was grossEnvy
My best friend once stood in some and the teacher made her put her shoes on the windowsill, we were 3 floors up. Obviously 1 shoe fell off into the playground. The head teacher was not impressed.
Funny what you remember Grin......

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 20/07/2020 23:21

Yes, saw one today, managed to avoid stepping in it!

katy1213 · 20/07/2020 23:43

Poodle poo - I haven't seen that since the 60s! Don't see many poodles these days either. But was it really down to poodles or was that just a theory held by all the local kids?

WhentheDealGoesDown · 20/07/2020 23:46

I used to think it was poodles, but only the white ones that did that poo, when I was young in the 60s

Gulsink · 21/07/2020 00:25

Maybe it's that new dog food that makes the poo glow in the dark so you don't step in it/can find it and pick it up at night time.

Breathmiller · 21/07/2020 08:09

Haha!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who used to think that white dogs did white poos. Grin
Amuses my family no end.

AliceinBunnyland · 21/07/2020 08:11

I just googled white dog poo as I had never seen this

Alexindiamondarmour · 21/07/2020 10:11

We used to think it was only Golden labradors that did white poo! Used to see it so much growing up (late 80s early 90s).

I have to think hard about this, but I’m going to say I haven’t seen a white dog poo in maybe 15 years - or more. Now there’s something I didn’t think I would rack my brains trying to remember. I also didn’t think the last time I looked at one would be the last time in 15 years. Weird.
