Pretty much in the title, What bike does your eight year old ride?

Trying to pick one for DS who isn’t confident, but has outgrown his much smaller Isla bike.

Bikerunski
That sounds interesting.
My dd (7) would like to try a bike race.
How would I go about this?
We are in north west england if that makes a difference?

Hi @MyNameHasBeenTaken, I guess it depends on what type of racing yiur dd wants to do.

My dc have both raced cyclocross in the past. It’s a very kid friendly discipline, because it’s usually laps of somewhere like a school playing field for 5/10/25/30/45/60 mins depending on age group (Senior men do 60,mins, older/younger/women do less). NW Cyclocross league schedule. Although there are specific cyclocross bikes, mountain bikes are fine too.

You can just turn up and enter, but you will have better support probably if you find a club with a Go Ride section. You can find one here. Some are running again, some I think are still not.

A cycling club will be able to support you in junior racing in other disciplines eg road and mountain biking too. You’re in the right part of the world for gone great facilities!

Thanks bike run.
I will click on that link and wander down that rabbit hole.
She is 7. Fearless. And loves going as fast as possible on her bike.

@MyNameHasBeenTaken she sounds like perfect Cyclocross material. Are you anywhere near Manchester? They do BMX taster sessions at the velodrome (in normal times) which my two love. You get a bike and all the kit you need.
