I done a stupid thing and googled a symptom and now I've managed to convince myself I am having an aortic anyersum (sp?)
I guess my question is does anyone else ever see their pulse in their belly?

Yes. Quite often!

EatsShootsAndRuns · 18/07/2020 17:29

Don't google symptoms. Dr Google will have you choosing a headstone in minutes!

I don't always take my own advice

AstridAv · 18/07/2020 17:44

Yes googling is silly. I know this. I should have my right to Google removed for my own sanity!

Aneurysms are almost always asymptomatic until they rupture, so I'm a bit curious about what Dr Google told you to look for.

I'm a health care professional and I google medical questions. The key is recognizing what sources are worth reading.

AstridAv · 18/07/2020 17:56

@missconductUS I googled 'visible heartrate in stomach' thats what came up Blush

Are you thin? My GP told me years ago that it's quite common in thin people not that I count as thin any more

AstridAv · 18/07/2020 18:22

Yes, I've lost quite a bit of weight recently. Im just over 9 stone

I can feel my heart beating in my stomach, particularly when I lie on my back. I first noticed this in 1989 (so pre-Google!) and I'm still here! I really don't think it's an aneurism.

Clumsyduck · 18/07/2020 18:32

Yes Iv seen this loads of times mainly while laying in a Hot bath

The first time I remember panicking I’d missed a pregnancy and it was a baby kicking 😂😂

Mrsemcgregor · 18/07/2020 18:36

Yes I can see my tummy pulse! And I have also googled it and been scared about Aneurysms Grin But a few years later I am still here and haven’t bled out into my abdomen!

Bobbiepin · 18/07/2020 18:39

My DH has this. He's pretty slim.

jomaIone · 18/07/2020 18:45

It's likely to be your abdominal aorta you can see. If you had an aortic aneurysm you would have a 'pulsating mass' rather than just feeling a pulse if you see what I mean!

Frlrlrubert · 18/07/2020 20:27

I can see my stomach move in time with my heartbeat, and I'm not that slim anymore!

AstridAv · 18/07/2020 21:04

Well judging from the comments its pretty normal to see your belly move with your heartbeat. That's great... unless we are all having aortic anuerysms
