Memorable moments from school plays (and nativities!)

Let's have a thread of funny moments from school plays that you or your children were involved in, as school plays are sadly off the agenda at the moment. Things that went right or wrong are welcome, as are nativity plays, even at this time of year!

  • I remember a six-year-old boy giving the perfect delivery of "Isn't it funny how a bear likes honey. Buzz! Buzz! I wonder why he does."
  • At junior school, we did a play within a play, which began with one really bossy girl (as the director) roundly berating the actors before her. She also got to tell off some of the teachers who were playing in the band (and they had lines to reply with).
  • Someone began a scene with the line "you're all late", and when someone else forgot their entrance, he then improvised some angry lines reminding that person to come on.

I was involved in a number of plays when I was at secondary school in the 90s, and some things that the slightly shocking things that actors did (and they were really done, not mimed!) were: face slapping, smoking, tying someone up, full-on lingering kissing.

I remembered another one: in a play of Dick Whittington, Whittington was in his bed surrounded by the rats (children with rat masks and tails). One rat fiddled with his mask too much, and it went flying when the elastic snapped. Whittington kindly handed it back to him. Smile
