Do you think Virgin will cancel flights to Florida for October?

We’ve got a holiday booked for October half term. Our options are:

-cancel and loose the money
-move the flights for free as long as they’re flights going before June 2021
-sit tight and hope Virgin cancels the October flights and we get a full refund
-sit tight and if they don’t cancel the flights we can move them to anytime up to March 2021 for a cost of £200pp (so £600)

What would you do?

I’m a member of a Facebook page for people waiting (and waiting and waiting) for refunds from Virgin and someone posted a screen shot of a Twitter message from Virgin Atlantic yesterday saying that they’d suspended flights between Heathrow and Manchester to Orlando up until and including Oct 5th.

I think I’d sit tight for a refund. Having said that though I’m still waiting for a refund for a holiday we should’ve taken in May, I’ve been told to expect it sometime in September.

We've booked Orlando with BA in October. We're going to wait and see.

I was watching CNN this morning and they said Florida would be under a second lockdown imminently. Things are not good there at the moment, and whilst October is far away, I don't think Florida is handling things well. Even if flights went ahead, I wouldn't want to go in October.

If you have the option to move flights for free, I would. Maybe Easter if school holidays are an issue?

If they get a grip on things right now and lock back down again then they might go ahead..... so probably not then!

I hope they’ll be cancelled. I’m I. The same position as you - flights booked with Virgin for Oct half term. I’m resigned to just waiting and hoping they cancel so I can get a refund. Well ideally I’d like to just move them to next Oct half term but I don’t think they’ll do that. We booked through a netflights so I emailed them a few weeks ago to see what the options were and not heard back, but didn’t expect to her a quick reply.

Annoyingly I paid for airport parking, flights, upgrade to bubble, villa and hotel all separately- much cheaper than a package but more hassle when things go wrong! Villa have said they’ll move the booking, not contacted hotel yet (universal hard rock). Thankfully I didn’t book park tickets or car hire yet.

well since theres still restrictions for UK citizens entering the US and florida is riddled with corona and no slow down looking to happen soon
id say theres a very high chance flights will be cancelled
