Giving the colour wheel a go!

I've just painted our front door blue. It was red before which looked awful with the bricks.

It really depends on the tone of the bricks though. Orangey red/brown red/ pinky red/ red red?

Glossy black is classic, kelly green or forest green would be beautiful, a lovely egg yolk yellow would be cheerful (and would look lovely with black or white shutters, if you have them).

Ours is midnight blue and according to that wheel it's just right! Grin

Anyone else sat like a loon holding that wheel up to their wall? Or is it just me?! Smile

Plain white or black

Personally, with a red brick house, I would choose a black front door

Sorry for butting in but can I ask what you’d paint your door if your house is red brick on the bottom, pebble dashed on top & has teak coloured windows?
I love bright colour doors but I only see them with white windows & mine are brown.

gingercat02 · 14/07/2020 14:26

Mine is gray as the whole bloody house was when we moved in sheep One of my friend's is magenta it's amazing

apric0t · 14/07/2020 14:52

My house is a red brick terrace and our next door neighbour has sage green and it looks lovely! We still have white pvc until we can afford to install something wonderful

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 14/07/2020 14:52

Sort of a deep orange red, I think, our bricks. A yolky yellow would look great and got an unqualified thumbs up from the husband so that might be what we do. It has a surround with a window which I will leave white I think and just repaint. I got a bit carried away and started thinking about painting stylised E European style flowers on the panel too but it's OK, I've calmed down now.

Grey, hahahaha. I used to love it to be fair but 50 per cent of my neighbours seem to have gone all grey and light green and it's put me off a bit.

The door is currently black and I really fancy a change but I want to say now that it may be a terrible mistake and I promise to own up to it on here if it is.

I am also squinting at the colour wheel!

@Alsonification I think you can still go bright if you want to! Sounds lovely.

@CarterBeatsTheDevil thanks a mil. I love the yellow too. Can’t wait to see yours.

Thisismytimetoshine · 14/07/2020 15:18

I've had both red and green, but it's currently black. I prefer it black.

MsEllany · 14/07/2020 15:24

Whatever colour you like.

I’ve just painted ours black but I kind of wish I done it yellow now.
