Can anybody help identify a vague film/TV quote?

I've had a fragment of a quote in my head since yesterday, and it's really getting on my tits now. I think it's from a film, but it could be from a TV show, which isn't much help. (I only know it isn't 'Twins' because that's what made me think of it in the first place! Bloody Danny DeVito...)

The quote is someting along the lines of: "...and a little extra for the inconvenience."

This is what I can remember:

  • The character saying it is a man - in my head he's British, but he could be American. Definitely speaking English.
  • He's fairly rushed, or out of breath in some way.
  • It's something to do with a suitcase or envelope full of money.
  • Case of mistaken identity or 'wrong place, wrong time'.
  • Possibly mafia or drugs related?
  • It's fairly light - I don't tend to watch heavy dramas or action type films, so probably a comedy.

I'm leaning more towards film, but it could be from TV. I don't think it's anything made for kids, but I suppose it could be! If it is then it's more likely from my youth, so late 1990s early 2000s.

Either it's really obscure or really obvious, but someone must know it! I asked DH and he had no idea, but we watch very different things so that was a long shot!

Please put me out of my misery...

Could it be “Dumb and Dumber”?
They start spending a suitcase full of ransom money on an expensive hotel, clothes, car.
Maybe after one of them had a pedicure with long gnarly toenails...

StrangeAddiction · 12/07/2020 15:10

Catch me if you can? Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hanks.

I've never seen it but sort of know of it so to me it sounds like it could be similar.

Obviouspretzel · 12/07/2020 15:10

Something from Mickey Blue Eyes ?

Bunnymumy · 12/07/2020 15:13

I dunno why I'm thinking of the guy from Jurassic park with the suitcase with the dino DNA in it..

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 15:38

Thanks for suggestions so far!

Never seen Jurassic Park or Catch Me If You Can. I have seen Dumb & Dumber but only once. Fairly sure it's not any of them.

Not Mickey Blue Eyes either, watched that the other day. I do watch a lot of Hugh Grant films but I don't think it's him.

An oldie but North By Northwest?

shivermetimbers77 · 12/07/2020 15:44

Could it be Romancing the Stone?... Michael Douglas helping Kathleen Turner get to Cartagena?.. Danny are Vito is also in that

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 16:06

Haven't seen North by Northwest or Romancing The Stone, so don't think it's either of those.

As I say, it might be from TV rather than a film. I definitely watch more TV.

I just searched the “quotes” section of IMDb with the word “inconvenience”. 229 quotes came back but it wasn’t one of them, sorry!

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 16:32

@TwoDrifters2
I did that too! Also googled everything I could think of. It's fully possible that it's not "inconvenience" at all, but that's the word stuck in my head. Could be trouble or problems or delay...

In my head, it's some sort of deal between two parties. The person who says the quote isn't really part of it, he gets roped in or caught up in it somehow (that could be wrong, he might be a willing participant). There's some kind of delay or complication, and the party giving the money over offers a little extra for the "inconvenience".

Sounds like a sorts Steven Segal film. You know, before the guns and ass kicking come in.

Can you think who the actor is? Or what else you've seen him in?

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 16:44

@Bunnymumy

That's what's confusing me, because I don't really watch those sorts of films! This is what's making me think it's from a TV show, but I can't think what.

Other thoughts I had that I don't think are right:

  • The Miami Vice ep of OFAH where Del has a lookalike who's a mafia boss.
  • My Family, there's an earlyish ep where Ben does some dental work for a member of a mob and keeps getting gifts from them. Tyres, I seem to remember.

Evil under the sun?

PapercraftNinja · 12/07/2020 16:50

Oh no that’s annoying me too now because I’m sure I’ve actually quoted this before! I’ll have a think

Bunnymumy · 12/07/2020 16:51

Ok so michael smiley played 'tyres'. So if you google his roles you should find it.

HappyHammy · 12/07/2020 16:54

I recognise it too. The only things i have watched recently on tv are McMafia, The Sinner and Cardinal.

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 18:12

@Ginqueen20
Never seen that one.

@PapercraftNinja
I'm sorry! I hope it doesn't annoy you too much... but I hope you suddenly remember where it comes from!

@Bunnymumy
I was thinking it might be something like Spaced, I'll have to look into it. Was also thinking Black Books.

@HappyHammy
Glad I'm not going crazy and inventing quotes! I don't think it's anything recent, if that helps. I tend to be quite late to watch things (never really go to the cinema or usually watch things when they're being broadcast, etc).

Sons of anarchy...but that is quite heavy going and I don't recall that quote but seems fitting I just don't remember any lines from tv or film.

CoodleMoodle · 12/07/2020 19:01

@emelsie

Never watched it, but I've heard it's quite heavy going and therefore definitely not my sort of thing.

It's very unlikely to be anything scary or gory - I'm a bit of a wimp!
