What was this cartoon I watched as a child?

It was a very old cartoon. In colour. No dialogue that I can recall. It was about a car. I think he was in a garage and then went outside. I think it rained. He was possibly a run down car and didn’t work very well. I think he lived in a scrapyard or place where there were lots of other cars. (It wasn’t Brum Grin) I remember him being sad and I think angry too. I used to watch it on a VHS tape but It wasn’t from VHS era. My mum must have recorded it off the TV. (She has no idea what I’m talking about)

Sorry if that’s uselessness information. I loved that cartoon and would like to see it again if possible.

Brum?

z0fl0ra · 12/07/2020 12:09

brum is the only thing i can think of, sorry

Smallsteps88 · 12/07/2020 12:19

It was way before Brum’s time. I’m not even sure if I could guess an era- I don’t know when coloured animation began? I’d say 60’s or earlier.

How old are you Smallsteps88? Or, when was it you watch the video?

Sportsnight · 12/07/2020 12:20

Gumdrop?

Smallsteps88 · 12/07/2020 12:20

It would have been late 80’s or very early 90’s when I watched it.

Smallsteps88 · 12/07/2020 12:38

Not susie but very similar! So I think same era.

Not the brave little toaster either @BertieBotts.

I’ve been googling and YouTubing and I haven’t found it so I reckon it was just some little obscure cartoon that my mum happened to record.

Thank everyone.

It sounds like some of the obscure cartoons we used to have on some cheap complications that my mum bought on VHS back in the day.

No idea what it could be though.

Smallsteps88 · 12/07/2020 13:34

Found it!!

It was

Looks like it was on an actual VHS that was bought rather than recorded. @Foxes157 do you remember any of the other cartoons that were on the VHS? We might have had the same one.

I’ve just spent a very happy 5 minutes reliving my early childhood Grin

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

That is definitely from the obscure cartoons I watched.

They were quite dark from memory. I remember being freaked out by 1 with someone stirring a potion and dancing test tubes.

I much preferred Tom and Jerry or hugs bunny.

It had to be a bought one.

Before VHS/Betamax there was no way to record anything off the tv amazing as that seems to be now.

BertieBotts · 12/07/2020 15:39

Early 90s though - could record stuff then? My mum's got videos they recorded off the TV back then. My grandma used to tape disney films for us, we'd have two back to back and then she'd fill up the rest with Children's BBC :o

BertieBotts · 12/07/2020 15:41

They are full of adverts for Daz and DFS :o

Smallsteps88 · 12/07/2020 16:11

Yes we recorded loads off the TV. Grease was one of them. I think the wizard of Oz too. I remember adverts for calor gas in the middle of it Grin
