Do you live in York? What's it like right now?

I'm in love with York. I visit once or twice every year, for a few blissful days of strolling, shopping, reading and being on my own.

I've had to cancel my last two trips so I am determined to visit soon. I live in Edinburgh though and we currently have zero tourists here. The weird thing is, instead of feeling lovely and peaceful to me, it feels wrong, unsettling and actually quite threatening to be in a deserted city centre.

Does York feel like this? I know things will be different with social distancing, queuing etc so I don't expect business as usual. Would you visit York or encourage visitors to come if you live there?

I can't come until September anyway but I'm wondering whether to book.

York is most definitely not empty!
It's a lot quieter atm, but cafes and restaurants are starting to open and it's lovely to walk around, without having to walk on people's heads.
Come to visit, before the stag and hen parties descend again!

I went on Monday. At first it felt normal and was great to be walking round all big shops Primark etc open and a lot of smaller ones too.

However, when trying to find a coffee in the afternoon a lot of the small cafes were closed. This could have been as it was after 3 or as well due to going on a Monday. I think some smaller business are only open on weekends. However, if you can't get there until September I say go for it. Shops have only really been reopen a couple of weeks and things are only just starting to get back to normal. I think by September you will be fine.

Overall I had a great day and it was so nice to be in a city. I'm a city girl through and through and sick to death of going for country walks 😂
