Hairdressers question - are layers still common

Not sure if this is a weird question. I use to have long hair and always had layers cut into it as it is quite thick and looks better when curly. I've since had it cut into a long bob. Regretted it big timeGrin. Anyway not had it cut in a while due to lock down and it has grown quite fast. Was planning to have layers cut back into. However maybe it's just me but shorter hair seems to becoming more in fashion and I do not see many people with layers in their hair anymore. Are layers still in?

I still get layers in my long hair

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2020 13:27

It's not a matter of whether they are in or not but do they suit you?

Pollypocket89 · 11/07/2020 13:28

Surely it just depends on the style you personally have and look good with?

My hairdresser always does layers when I go as my hair is so thick and full. They are rough layers though as in, hair brushed up when shipped vertically rather than horizontally so choppy if that makes sense. My hair is just past my shoulder blades.

Layers depend on your hair, but layers or not, contemporary cuts keep the bottom of your hair, where it falls on your shoulders or back, blunt and straight, not wispy and ‘u’ shaped.

Thanks everyone I think I do need the layers I can look like a lampshade if I don't. @breadcakebiscuits yes I think that's what I'm seeing.

I have layers otherwise my hair looks heavy and has an awkward wave. Layers frame my face better and let the wave curl better.

Fashions come and go, but if something genuinely suits you, you'll always look good regardless of fashion.

I've got layers in mine. And mines naturally curly so it does look better with them in
