What is this on my toddlers finger? Pics

He's had it a few days, it looks really swollen from the side but doesn't seem to bother him.
No idea what it is or how he's got it though.
Any clues?

Does any of the skin on it look like it's been pulled a bit? Sometimes when the skin around your nail gets pulled/comes off it can get infected and look like that (i'm not a doctor by the way i'm just guessing). It may be worth a phonecall to the GP to see what they say!

Boil? Infected splinter? Can you ask a pharmacist to have a look?

It looks like a Paronychia. Might need a dose of antibiotics to clear it up. Warm salt water can help too.
