Handhold? Feeling ill and worrying about corona

Really not feeling well and I'm so scared it's CV. Have a temp (though it's only 37.2, it's high for me and I feel hot in myself), a bit of a sore throat and I've been coughing a bit. I'm also totally wiped out. ☹️☹️☹️

I've had to cancel the family party were were meant to be having today and I've ordered a home test (I don't feel well enough to drive to the testing place which is about 30 min away)

Scared it's CV and I'm going to be really ill. I had normal flu a few years ago and it took me months to feel normal again.

☹️☹️☹️☹️

It may be COVID but you're unlikely to be very ill with it OP, even if you're older than the average MN-er and even if you have an underlying condition - which you don't mention so am guessing you don't have.

The vast majority of people, especially those under 70, have very mild symptoms (as did I).

Several people have commented that the flu made them feel far worse, so don't take your experience of that as any indication.

Hope the test arrives quickly and someone can post it into a priority box for you as soon as you've done it.

Meanwhile just look after yourself, lots of fluids, painkillers if you need them/ if your temp gets bad. Smile

Thank you.

Kind of you to reply. I've had a nap and feel slightly better. I have health anxiety from the flu so being ill really makes me spiral. ☹️☹️☹️

I’ve had it and whilst it wasn’t fun, it was manageable and I felt better after about 10 days. I was in bed for about 4 of those.

Thank you.

I think I'm panicking because the bad stories have been all over the media and the rest of the cases haven't really been shared.

Just wish I knew how I caught whatever it is - I have barely been out though I did go shopping on Monday. Surely that's too soon to see symptoms though?

Try and distract yourself with an engrossing film or book OP, anxiety will definitely make your physical symptoms worse (esp. temp., pain or tension). I hope you feel much better soon.

Thanks.

Wondering if its actually tonsillitis as I'm not coughing. I was this morning but I think it was a combination of reflux and anxiety.

Even more rubbish because today was my graduation day from uni and I had lots of fun stuff planned which obviously had to be cancelled.
