it always amuses me when holiday rentals call their properties cottages.
I know it's just terminology but we used to stay in many for work reasons over a two year period in Cumbria and what passed as a 'cottage' often meant a modern flat, a studio, a mid century terraced house, a sprawling mansion, a bedsit in a basement, flats in a block, and bungalows.
all of those we stayed in were great, but only about 2 out of 10 were cottage-like
