I moved here 9 months ago and feel so unwelcome, I was wondering if anyone has experience of living in Bradford and how do or did they feel here.

I lived in Bradford for 18m. Moved back to Leeds. Much happier.

Next town over 🙋🏻‍♀️

Bodgedboxdye · 07/07/2020 18:55

Where in Bradford are you?

And what do you mean when you say you feel unwelcome? People not speaking to you?

KatyaZamolodchikova · 07/07/2020 18:55

I live in Bradders, drop me a PM if you want to chat!

Awarethebear · 07/07/2020 19:08

Bodged, yes nobody seems to speak to me here, it's as if they go out of their way to not make any eye contact and no chance of a hello.
It just feels like a very unwelcoming, unsafe place to me.

Could you move?

Idles quite nice, it’s close to Leeds too.

I was born in Bradford and lived in the city for 20 years. Happy memories. Where in Bradford do you live - do you work? Just thinking where you might meet people. Not sure exactly what you are trying to say.

What are you doing to say hello? What have you done but failed in 9 months (3-4 we've been on lockdown) to make friendships??

I’ve lived in the city centre, great Horton, little Horton and Clayton heights. Found the city centre deserted and very lonely. Great Horton loads of car accidents, petty thefts and the odd punch up to watch brilliant. Little Horton was boring and full of unfriendly people and Clayton heights was ace especially the Polish community. Think it really depends what you after as to where you should live. If you’re posh try Saltaire or Baildon. I couldn’t live there I’m too rough but they’re lovely areas.

I do, lived here about 20 years now, where it always snows 😀

@user1471462428 Clayton Heights is lovely! Gorgeous countryside, lovely walks, good pubs and all on a bus route to Bradford or Halifax. Only downside is the winter weather being so close to Queensbury. 🥶

AnnaMariaDreams · 07/07/2020 21:23

I live near Bradford but I am from here so it feels like home.

Hoppinggreen · 07/07/2020 21:23

aware not in Bradford but not far
I’m surprised as I’ve found most people there pretty friendly.

Immigrantsong · 07/07/2020 21:26

Yes I feel the same OP. It was cheap to buy, but not a friendly place. Are you foreign like me?
