Does anyone want to join the 5am club with me?

Okay...it doesn't have to be 5am straight away but does anyone want to get their arse into gear and get up earlier and get stuff done in the morning?

Now I'm self employed I'm finding that I get up at 7-8am (not too bad) but I laze around eating breakfast and drinking tea until about 10am or even later Blush

There is tonnes of shit I want to get done and being more productive in the morning would help a lot!

Anyone want to join in?

This week I'm just going to focus on getting up at 7am but actually being productive instead of wasting time on my phone.

So 45 mins to eat breakfast and drink tea, no more.

Time to be filled with a 5k walk instead and getting one chore done instead.

Anyone else?

I’m with you! Better to get into the habit of it while it is light!

Start tomorrow?

rosiethehen · 06/07/2020 16:58

I would love to. I watch YouTube videos on how to do it, but feel so lousy early morning that I haven't taken the plunge. I'm very much a nightowl, but I hate sleeping in and wasting the morning.

FusionChefGeoff · 06/07/2020 17:25

Yes I want to kick start my mornings. I used to run early doors then be on fire for jobs straight after but am injured and now shuffling about until 9am when usually I'd have done loads by then!!

rosiethehen · 06/07/2020 17:34

I think I could manage 7am to start with.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 06/07/2020 17:49

Yes! 7am sounds about right to me. I could get so much done including work.

Herecomethehotstepper · 06/07/2020 17:54

Fucking yeah! I'm hoping to do my yoga teacher training next year but since the dc are home I never get to practice. I want to wake up at 5am, practice, shower, then wake the dc up.

I managed it before lockdown, then I started drinking more, staying up till late to get work done, etc. I feel so much better after a morning practice.

wizzbangfizz · 06/07/2020 18:15

I desperately need to do this as I'm wasting so much time lounging about of a morning

OhioOhioOhio · 06/07/2020 18:30

This is a great plan but I think I'm going to be in the 5.30 am gang when next term starts.

Submariner · 06/07/2020 18:48

I already get up at 5am. I don't always do something productive with it, but I often do my hobby and eat breakfast in peace. I have been doing this off and on (more on than off to be fair) for about 2 years and it's definitely changed my body clock. It has ruined weekend lie-ins for me though! 7am would be a serious lie-in now. I love having the morning to myself.

Sonmi451 · 06/07/2020 22:33

I'd love to get a bit more time in a morning to get things done. I currently get up at 6.30 on a school day, but DD usually follows me within a minute or two.

If I could get up and dressed and downstairs without triggering her "mummy is up" alarm, I'd be all for it.

rosiethehen · 07/07/2020 07:45

07:10 this morning 😀

ILiveInSalemsLot · 08/07/2020 09:49

I got up at 7.30 this morning and have already done some chores, done some work AND been for walk.
It feels good.
7am tomorrow hopefully.

Sonmi451 · 09/07/2020 06:38

6.30 Tuesday, 6.25 yesterday and today, and I've just changed my alarm to 6.23 for tomorrow. I figure if I can move it just by two minutes at a time, maybe once or twice a week, it'll be less noticeable. I'm trying to get to bed earlier too, last night was the first time in ages that I've been in bed before midnight, but I've had a rubbish night's sleep!

WLmum · 09/07/2020 06:47

Me please! I've been saying it for ages and not actually doing it. This morning I've been up for a couple of hours already - not intentionally - couldn't sleep after a nightmare but I've done some work, a yoga session and now back to work. It's peaceful and I love seeing the day beginning out the window.
Like a pp, I used to run early and be on fire but that's slipped. Going to don those trainers tomorrow morning!
Thanks guys - inspired!

6.20 this morning. Woke up before my alarm, and somehow felt fine about getting up. I can get kids packed lunches done and have a brew in peace.
