Kids found Xanax playing on Hampstead Heath

Today I was on Hampstead Heath with my kids who were just playing in an old fallen down tree when they discovered a small bag of xanax, there were six pills in there. Thank goodness they had the good sense to realise this was weird so they brought them to me and I disposed of them in a bin. They are seven and nine but there were much younger kids around and always are round the fallen down trees . It is the first time they've ever come across stuff like this, but it made me feel quite uncomfortable.

Oh crikey! I worry about stuff like this as my 3yo would have them down his throat in no time

LaurieFairyCake · 05/07/2020 22:57

Why?

You could have enjoyed them ? Wink

Really wouldn't have done much harm, they've just fallen out of an ordinary persons bag

I would have kept them for myself Halo

I find this sort of I'd have taken them myself attitude a bit odd. I thought it was important that my DC saw me dispose of them, what sort of example would that be otherwise. Anyway, I'm just very glad nothing bad happened to my DC or anyone else's. Children don't metabolise drugs the same way adults do.

Tbh it's a regular prescription drug that could be in the bags or pockets of thousands of people at any one time. Sometimes packets will fall out. You need to teach children to do as yours did from an early age. (If you'd wanted to keep them you could have said you were going to hand them in to the chemist/Dr Wink)

Loveinatimeofcovid · 06/07/2020 10:07

I take if you don’t spend much time at Hampstead Heath then?

disgruntled515 · 06/07/2020 10:58

I carry them round with me just in case - prescribed for severe anxiety - so it could well have been an innocent falling out of handbag situation. Six is the most I am prescribed at a time incidentally. I get sick of seeing all the metal canisters in my local park

TheWashingMachine · 06/07/2020 11:52

Agreed the metal cannisters are horrendous, there were six, but they were not in proper packaging just a small clear plastic bag, which always strikes me as iffy. Tbh we go to Hampstead Heath all the time but not to the bit near the men's ponds very often.
