Any Hairdressers out there for some advice please?

DD, 14, has light brown hair naturally, with fine bleached highlights.

She used a purple Manic Panic dye at home which was cute and left her hair in great condition.

It has now faded to a dull turquoise-y blue.
I bought a box of Colour B4, followed the instructions to the letter, used 2 boxes as her hair is long-ish. The rinsing seems to be key so we made sure that it was rinsed properly but it hasn't worked. The colour is a little lighter than it was but it's barely noticeable. It also hasn't done any favours to the condition of her hair so I really don't think we should try again.

What should we use? A caramel-y semi permanent dye? A toner? Something else?

We are in Scotland so no access to hairdressers for weeks.

Thanks in advance Smile

I just tried to add a picture of my hair like this but i don't think it posted..

Mine was very similar but I had used Directions Lilac.

The hairdresser used a red/copper colour and it covered it completely first time!

I'll try through the website! The bottom pictures show the colour properly (all taken the same day)

Thank you Cat. That makes sense, going for the opposite colour to counter the purple.

I hope I'll get more replies with perhaps suggestions of products

No suggestions sorry 😁 but hairdressers open in 2 weeks in Scotland. I've got an appointment 🙏

ProfMcGonigle · 05/07/2020 14:19

Bairns I can't wait! DH got an appointment with the barber for the opening week but our local hairdressers are booked out for ages!

(DH's need is much greater, mind you Grin)

My sister had this happen to her, she did dyed her peroxide blonde hair purple after a few washes it turned turquoise. The hairdresser said she could either have it toned out gradually or have the ends cut off. Seeing as your daughter is naturally brunette I’d either go with PP advice and wait for a hairdresser or dye it at home with dark brown!

@ProfMcGonigle no way! That's rotten 🙁 I think I was lucky as I had an appointment the weekend of lockdown so maybe was at the top of the waiting list- phew!

Have you contacted Manic Panic for advice?

I have Manic Panic Napalm on my hair now - the high lights are still quite orange but the rest has faded out to auburn which I like so much I'm going to ask my hairdresser to try to recreate on my roots next week.

Colour stripping is a brutal process and dyeing over it may be the only option.
