How's it going with the pubs being open in your area?

Seems largely quiet here with people behaving themselves. One has been shut down after being open for 2 hours (Leicestershire village outside lockdown zone) but the police have been going round all the pubs open in the area so not the chaos that we were expecting although being where we are a lot of people from surrounding areas aren't allowed to travel.

How has it been in your area?

I passed through town towards midday. Lots of police on patrol to make sure all was going well. There was a sense of town being alive for the first time since at least 10 days before lockdown which was good.
No idea how the day/ evening has developed.

I think the pub's obligations to social distancing will go a long way to discouraging rowdy mobs.

We drove past our village pub, which has effected two marquees in the garden(which should be fun the games tomorrow) as the actual pub is tiny. Not overly full. But our area of S Bucks have been well behaved a the way through.
We’re booked to go out in a couple of weeks.

PurpleDaisies · 04/07/2020 22:23

Local village pub packed out with no social distancing. Awful.

TSSDNCOP · 04/07/2020 22:25

There were just fireworks Hmm

Mucky1 · 04/07/2020 22:26

There's a video doing the rounds locally already. It shows a man being arrested and a woman on the floor being attended by paramedics with a head injury. 😳

KenAdams · 04/07/2020 23:33

We've now got some terrible news coming out of another village - hit and run into pub goers Sad

I've seen lots of photos on social media of crowds queuing outside to be let in, with no social distancing at all.

whatisthislifesofullofcare · 04/07/2020 23:40

Our High Street smells of booze! A video is doing the rounds of some drunk girls fighting.

sunshineandshowers21 · 04/07/2020 23:40

all three of our locals have been shut down by police for overcrowding. lots of videos on snapchat showing loud football, no social distancing, people standing by the bars...

Hallomother · 04/07/2020 23:43

Ridiculously
Loud groups hanging on one other and shouting along the pavements
Walked past one local earlier, absolutely rammed and no social distancing and people well and truly sauced

KittyHawke80 · 04/07/2020 23:46

Not great, frankly. Early hours of this morning a fifteenth century pub a couple of villages over had some teaspoon in a stolen Landy take out an entire wall when he came off the road. Huge smash five minutes down the road this eve - air ambulance; five regular ambulances and a load of fire engines. My friend in Folkestone can see a five car smash from his flat window. Another one between Ashford and Maidstone. It's fair to say 'drink was taken' in most of these, I reckon.

No idea but after reading these posts I’ve got no desire to know!

TreacherousPissFlap · 05/07/2020 04:00

Better than expected. Still not great but I suspect the weather was a help.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/07/2020 04:08

Our now infamous nth eastern market town only had a few pubs open, one an expensive older persons type pub, the local workies and a bit of a rough place. Lunchtime there was a group of people wandering the high street effing and jeffing and shouting. Then police called about 8 to a load of people scrapping in the street. Great.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 05/07/2020 06:42

I haven't been in a pub for years, but am old friend turned up unexpectedly yesterday afternoon and it seemed a convenient place to have coffee. Kent village for context. Very distanced tables, table service only, temperature taken before entry, probably more staff than customers.

BillywilliamV · 05/07/2020 07:38

Well, BBC seems to think things went Okay.
That' s a shame for everyone predicting Armageddon!

KenAdams · 05/07/2020 10:47

Having seen the pictures from Soho I'm not quite sure it did.

Our small town has been very civilised. Plenty of social distancing and no rowdy behaviour. It has to be fair, been good throughout the last few months. The worst for no social distancing have been the over 70 age group. I live very near 4 sets of older persons sheltered flats. Each of the 4 b,ocks of 4 flats has there own group garden, but throughout the last 3 months they have all been in and out of each others places, had garden parties etc. The you get folk have been quite shocked by their attitude.

MegaClutterSlut · 05/07/2020 16:15

I live in a busy town near the town center. Loads of shouting, including a few fights. Lots of photos of packed pubs, wouldn't
surprise me if it all goes to shit and they have to shut them again imo
