Work PT, been 1 day elsewhere, does my boss need to know?

Work 3 days a week for a company no allowed to do any extra work. Someone has asked me to work for them 1 day. Does my current boss need to know?

I would be on the books so not sure if I would need to tell

I wouldn’t tell the first boss. It’s literally none of their business. Unless it is. Such as if it’s a competing business but even then, it’s not within their purview to know. What’s the reason they give for not “allowing” you to work elsewhere?

Is it in your contract that you can't work elsewhere? I'd read it carefully.

As long as there's nothing in your contract reasonably prohibiting you - eg working for a competitor.

Check your contract. I was in this position and had to notify job 1 that I was taking on job 2. It wasn't a problem but I did have to tell them.
