Either your own or your DCs? Our family already has a Nanny and a Granny so looking for something different for new gps...don’t like Grandmother/Grandma/Grandfather/Grandpa/Gramps as they’re a bit old fashioned for the people in question!

What different names are in your family?

both mine were Nana and Granaddad Surname. But then I still had my Dad's great grandparents and they were Greatgran and Greatpop (My Nana started to call her FIL Pop when they married as he said she could call him Dad now and she didn't want to upset her dad and it stuck)

when I was little I thought that you started as a Nana and then when you got old you became a gran, which is why my Dad's Mam was Nana and not Gran like she wanted because in my head she was too young!

Within the new generation, they all have Nana's as that's what's their Own mam's were called. However, granddad's have become Gaga (baby miss pronouncements which has stuck) and Trouble as he is apparently always getting into trouble off Nana!

I'm a step mum.

My step daughter lives with us full time and I've been in her life since she was a young toddler. (her choice). I have always played up to the evil stepmother role ( according to her I'm 'my actual mum')

I'm going to be known as Nanny Evil. She's 11 and in some ways, I cannot wait👹

For men, I like Papa plus a name. Trouble is it only works with single syllable names such as PapaJohn, PapaJim, PapaTom and so on. My name has two syllables and it becomes a bit of a mouthful. I’m becoming a grandfather for the first time at the end of July so I’m wresting with this issue at the moment and because my preferred idea won’t work I’ll probably default to Grandpa as DW wants to be called Grandma.

I like Papa! What about PapaAl? Or PapaV? You don’t have to match either, she can be different to your DW if you feel like it?
