Halfords: will my son be able to try out a bike?

My son has just learned to ride a bike.

Just wondering if Halfords will let him in and if they will let him try out a bike?

Anybody know? They’ve been out of stock for weeks and week and I want to make sure before I tell him the good news!!!

Nope.

You can’t do any browsing or trying stuff out.

I went to pick up my daughter’s bike and you can literally go in, get the bike, go. I asked if we could look at bikes whilst waiting, but not to touch anything.

(:

I was meant to say, he said yes, but not to touch anything.

It’s a very over the top policy.

That is crackers

I bought one online in the end, I’m just not removing it from Halfords until son has had a good go. I had to get it assembled and they don’t normally refund built bikes.

Tweeted them, no response yet

They seem to get a lot of scathing tweets

Halfords seem to have gone way over the top. It took me 30 minutes just to pick up a click & collect order (bike parts) and when i got in the store they were only allowing 2 customers in at a time in a massive store.

We went to smyths toys in Glasgow last week and my son was allowed to sit on them with staff there. Must be more of a shop rule.

I just don’t understand it, it is totally unreasonable to expect someone to purchase a bike without trying it. I also don’t understand why some stores have closed changing rooms - if an item doesn’t fit, it will be returned resulting in a far longer staff/customer interaction. And as for the ‘quarantining’ of items by certain stores.....😐😐😐
